I don't blame Dino for wanting to evaluate Mahoney in person before deciding. It isn't like Mahoney's skill set as a walk on QB screamed "perfect fit" for Dino's offense.

The important thing is that it appears Mahoney has improved and throws a better, more accurate ball and that Dino did the right thing in, after evaluating him, putting him on scholarship.

agreed. Amba needed to square up and high point that ball. He played that weak. The throw wasn't so bad. QB needs to trust Amba in throwing that ball.

edit: but i agree that was a great play on D, and I'd rather stay aggressive and stay vertical. We need to maintain the threat of going vertical for this offense to work with the backup QB.

Yup, that's why they started this drive with running plays. A few more shots like that and they'll be one dimensional.
