RB situation

I’m sorry but didn’t he break like 6 tackles to score that TD? I’ve seen him break enough tackles I think he’s a quality runner and catcher!

On one run against a depleted D in a game that was out of hand, well yes he did.

Watching all of the games he's been the guy, Strick is not a big YAC runner. IMO, he gets wrapped up early and often. Breaking tackles is usually not his strength.

Mr. Howard is, IMO, going to be a difference maker for us during his tenure at SU. Because he's had few touches, I've only seen spurts of his ability and it's all good - like yesterday, in a burst, he shot through the middle like a missle and FST barely caught him, 3 yards short of a touchdown. He isn't a dump truck, too fast for that - maybe an F150 with the BIG ENGINE and slicks and I don't agree that his perceived non 4.4 speed makes a difference – he's fast enough just needs more playing time. Jawhar Jordan, mercurial, ankle breaker, not - but This man is the deal! Abdul Adams from Okieland is in the wings behind curtain #3 but we won't see him this year. Until then with the bigger better offensive line we have a winner. GOSU :)

I'm fine with the way we utilize the RB's as of now.

Howard needs to play more consistently, but if he's playing against a defense that is a little tired in the 3rd quarter, what a luxury that is.

Strickland is fine and is the veteran, Neal is probably the best of the three at this point. But Howard can catch and has some wiggle. Like what I've seen.

Scary to think Adams is better than them all. We are going to have weapons all over the place next year. If a couple of the younger WRs step up (Jordan, Hendrix, Harris) it could get really fun.

It will be interesting to see if we play Howard when we’re playing from behind and need to pass a lot.

And I'm not convinced Pierre doesn't have something to offer as well. Limited opportunities but pure North-South runner. He dragged a couple of 'Noles on that 12 yard burst up the middle.

I think we have upgraded our stable of RBs, and Pierre is part of that, depth at the position is very important, with hopefully someone becoming our alpha dog. This year I can see any or all of four contributing at certain times.
Next year again we should have at least four contributors. Its good to be Orange and getting better.

All of that and hes not bad at catching passes either. Future star, but pretty good right now.

It will be interesting to see where Abdul Adams falls in the hierarchy. He is probably the only true HR hitter of the group.

Sorry , disagree Howard is also a home run hitter just early in carreer, but definitely has home run ability.
I am nearly giddy that we have these guys for the next few years.

By home run...I mean true break away speed with the ability to take to the house. I was actually surprised how easily Howard was caught from behind yesterday.

Huh?

FSU’s guys are some of the fastest athletes in the country.
It took them 40+ yards to get to him -
I’d hardly call that “easily caught from behind”.

Not sure what he expects from a 211 lb RB but Howard is about 4.4, now there may be faster people but I bet they are not 211 lb RBs very often. You are correct it is all relative the guys chasing him were not exactly slow.

Anybody but a team with FSU speed that run would have been a TD. I did see him slow down slightly toward end of that run so maybe he could improve his stamina, but speed was not an issue.

Sure. He has 33 carries for 109 yards, 5 TDs. He's averaging 3.3 YPC.

If Moe and/or Howard split up those 33 carries, it would be interesting to the see the yardage.

I'm not saying Strick is a bad player, I just think that Moe and Howard are both better and should get the majority of the snaps.

Spot on and this is the perfect example of how td numbers have little to do with skill sometimes and who your key players are. Its about opportunity and timing with play calls. In a similar manor pierce has caught a few short ones on nice play action plays at the goal line.

To me it looked like he pulled up because he wanted to wrap the ball up and not risk a fumble after such a big play.

That's my story.

He protected the ball bc he felt the heat knowing he was run down from behind. He gets run down by a number of teams and thats ok.as a frosh he is in phenomenal shape and will only get faster and more confident. Love this kid, has special strength and vision at the LOS and thats something that can't be taught:)

Yup, Adams is supposed to be the best but love that we have some juice this year. I agree, Mo is our best blend of a back in terms of wiggle , speed, and power.

I don't expect anything from him...it was a great run. My point is that Abdul Adams doesn't get caught...neither does Damien Rhodes or Walter Reyes. He has very good speed...not elite speed.

I say Howard doesn’t have high end speed but he makes up for it with extreme explosiveness in a short distance. Good vision and great hips. Doesn’t need to be bo Jackson fast. Adams as I hear it has great moves and elite speed also. Kinda giddy about both playing next year.

I agree, and its ok to talk candidly about a kid. We are not bashing the kid, it's just factual that he has average p5 speed for a back. He will kill it with his size and vision . . If he had top end speed at this age, then he isn't a 4 or 5 star kid, he is zeke or Saquan, 10-15 year talents.

Walter Reyes got caught often. Damien Rhodes had a different body type, not as muscular therefore stamina was easier over longer distance. Abdul Adams wait and see.
Speed over forty yards is close for most good running backs, but stamina often separates the elite from the very good. That is why in track and field you have specialists at different distances.
The forty yard speed is the measuring stick for football players, because that is the distance that speed is the most important on the football field. Howards speed is very good for foorball, but he can improve on his stamina or maintaining that speed over a longer distance. As I said before speed is not the issue.

Run down by a number of teams? he has only played in two games and FSU was the only one that caught him after a forty five yard run. What you just said makes no sense.

Who said speed was an issue? Certainly not me. He is a faster version of Delone Carter
