Sorry but I have a serious issue when a kid blows off a major program like Syracuse like they're nothing after he claimed how much he liked it there. In my eyes major college football is major college football. There's slight differences between SU and FSU.

You get a great education, your on TV all the time. You get all the exposure to NFL teams you could ask for. Lastly there's people involved here as well. The coaches that recruited you and established a relationship with have value SU essentially discovered this kid and recruited him hard and that should mean mean something. Do you just tell the coach "sorry you're not good enough for me any more"? Was he lying when he said he liked it here? Maybe I'm crazy but I just don't get it and it makes me lose respect for the kid.

Williams was not a wreck in the locker room. Just because a kid doesn't get good grades and makes bad decisions also doesn't translate to being a "complete wreck in the locker room".

Williams wasn't kicked off the team by Marrone either. Marrone met with him and was going to suspend him for a certain number of games, he chose to leave the team was what I heard. It was because he was out after curfew at the Turning Stone, nothing to do with the locker room.
Not sure where you heard that

you are embarrassing yourself. Just stop. You don't know the kids. You will never know the kids. Stop projecting onto the kids as if you do know them. You don't.

The college football recruiting process is not a morality play, no matter how badly you want to make it one.

That being said, I'm with bnoro. This kid isn't coming to Syracuse. Wish him well and let the thread die.

Like it or not, in the eyes of most kids, we're not a major program. When you haven't been to a major bowl in over 10 years, high school kids aren't going to view you as a major program. We might be on the way back but when you're getting offers from every school in the country we just aren't going to be considered. That's a fact.

For you to take that and start bashing kids that are 17-18 years old is childish and ridiculous.

I disagree I want to see how many useless posts we can get before he decommitts for a 5th time

ya i have a standing wager of over 2.5 decommits. he will commit at the Opening, but there is no way he will be able to pass up announcing at the UUA game

I d
Simply false.

Vast difference with exposure, facilities, location, women, etc.
ont think it's a vast as some on this Baird make it out to be. As for women every college has them. Let's not carried away. SU is in the process of vastly improving facilities. SU players get tons of exposure, they put players in the NFL every year and some of them have been high draft picks. We are a big time BCS level program. Getting scholarship to SU is a very big deal.

SU is a major program and that offered great opportunities to recruits. Going to a so called "bigger program" doesn't make you any more likely to make it in the NFL. If you're good and work hard they will find you. We play the same schedule as a team like FSU SU is on regional ESPN or a network all the time. I think in true Syracuse fashion you understimate what the program has to offer. Bnoro not you as much as some of the others.

I am very aware of program has to offer. I think you are underestimating the size of the gaps between our school and a perennial top 25 school. The NFL argument you make is what non-major programs say to recruits to try and make the difference, but it's not going to be a selling point for the staff. Fact of the matter is that even the lower level SEC schools are bigger programs than ours.

Did you read the article? It clearly states that Williams was facing another suspension for exactly what I said he did, sorry I didn't mention the crash, the team took a vote to allow him back on the team and they supported him. He walked out of Marrone's office out of frustration because he was facing another suspension and when they couldn't reach him they announced that he left the team and wasn't allowed back.

His teammates supporting him in the vote clearly shows that he was not a disaster in the locker room.

"It was just a misunderstanding with me and the coach...The mistake I made was walking out of his office out of frustration. I didn’t quit at all," Williams said Tuesday in an interview with WDAE in Tampa. "I made three mistakes in my life. Not handing in a paper, getting in a car accident and getting suspended because of my grades and it was my three mistakes. If you say that I am a bad person because of those three mistakes I guess there is a lot worse people than me."

Florida State is another level. Comparisons with say, Louisville, yea, there isn't a vast difference. I could even hear that about Clemson and maybe let it go. Last year's national champ and a program with a Top 5 pedigree of all time? Vast difference.

That's not true...

Take anything posted on Syracuse.com with a grain of salt.

That was a quote supposedly directly from Williams...and he was using the article as proof, I wasn't even though it proved my point.

I dont think it proved your point. To me it showed how Williams was still trying to make excuses and minimize things. Gives a feeling of owning up to their mistakes but also casting some of the blame on others.

As he said, he has made 3 mistakes in his life...he says one of the mistakes was getting in the car accident, but he got in troubled because he broke curfew by going to the casino. He was found out because he got in the accident.

I don't think I would be going out on a limb too far by saying that my guess is he has probably made a few more than 3 mistakes in his life from when this article was written.

we are half way to the first 10 star.

Does this mean he might go...

supernova!!

I think SU has player on the team that's better than this kid. I would jake Jamal Custis over him any day and it's not close.

i don't know Clark is an absolute stud. as good as he is as a receiver he is just as good as a blocker.

To me both are just very tall WR. I think Custis is a better athlete and Clark is a better blocker but I don't think either will actually play the TE position. But you acknowledging that Custis is at the same level as a so called 5 star?

where did i acknowledge that Custis is at the same level as a 5 star? they are different positions first of all, and while Clark is probably the best at his position in the country, Custis isn't on the same level. Not to say Custis isn't a very good prospect, but imo Clark is elite...albeit a drama queen and a half

I could be wrong but I really see Custis as more of a large WR, similar to Brandon Coleman.

Custis was a great prospect for us, no doubt, but we wasn't getting offered by ND or USC - Clark is that type of recruit, prima donna or otherwise.
