“Stripe the Dome” for Duke...

This promotion is stupid, not because it isn't a fun idea, but because there is NO, NIL, NAUGHT, ZILCH, ZERO chance of pulling it off without handing out the shirts at people's seats. Especially in a season when fan support has been a bit fluid at best. I suppose it could work with the types of rabid fans represented here on Syracusefan.com that pay attention to game detail, but that's not the majority of fans in attendance at the games.

One consistent color (Orange?) is hard enough for the crowd to figure out. Consistent "stripes" by section would be a real challenge, rotating stripes by date is a HUGE ask, but then add to it only doing it three random dates on the calendar......Yeah Right.

Now think about this.

Notre Dame attendance 19,821
Duke attendance 31,458

There were more than 11,500 people in attendance for the Duke game and being asked to know and remember the color they were supposed to wear based on the location of their seat, that weren't even at the Notre Dame game. I would guess that as much as 1/2 the crowd at the Duke game wasn't at the Notre Dame game. These aren't people attending every game who are completely aware of the dress code for the section they are going to be sitting in.

Dumb, not because it wouldn't look great if it worked....but dumb because there is NO chance of it working so why not invest time and energy in something you have a chance at pulling off.

Outside of being "cute", what does striping, orange out or anything in that vein accomplish?
It's not going to increase attendance. It's not going to make fans feel better.
Not to be annoying, but who really cares? And if so, why?
