1 and 2 seeds pretty clear now

But what does that have to do with ISU? If anything, a win over Mizzou could help ISU move into the top 25. That would boost Mizzou's record to 5-2.

In addition, Marquette is 2-3 against the RPI top 25 at the moment.

Marquette is 2-2.

Neither would I. Or Mizzou, for that matter.

That said, if MSU wins the Big 10 tourney, I think that puts them in the Midwest or West. The West bracket will have the best #2 seed, unless the #1 is from the same conference.

Mizzou is like those Villanova teams when they were good a few years ago - 4 guards who foul a lot on defense and 1 big man. We can play against that style, and we can stretch out to guard the 3 against a team like that.

Same goes for Duke, who is a slower version of Missouri, and doesn't play great defense, although they can get hot from 3. I'm not scared of either of those guys as our 2 seed.

The committee isn't going to judge Illinois solely on their RPI. It was a quality win over a quality opponent at the time. Are you suggesting that beating Cal by 39 points wasn't impressive? I understand that both teams have quality wins. It's just that Mizzou has more.

If Georgetown and Baylor are the same team (which they're not), then you're making my argument for me. Mizzou is 2-0 against Baylor, Marquette is 1-1 against Georgetown.

I think all along I, and others, have said Mizzou is the 2 seed and Marquette isn't. The only point is that Marq has a shot at Mizzou's 2. A 2 seed means top 8. One is just on one side while the other is just on the other...right now.

Folks are unwise to write-off the Big Ten getting a No. 1-seed. First off, Michigan State and Ohio State both have awesome profiles. Even if you ignore that for a moment, people need to understand the committee almost always gives a No. 1 to the top conference. There are very few examples of the top conference NOT getting one.

Ohio State or Michigan State will be awarded a No. 1 if they get to the Big Ten Championship on Sunday IMHO.

And to me, that's plain old East Coast bias. Mizzou has had a better profile all year, they have a better profile right now, and they will still have a better profile if they lose to ISU and Marquette wins the BE tourney.

We're not going to change each other's minds. The argument is also kind of silly, because after it doesn't happen (and it won't), you'll just say there was always that chance (even though there wasn't).

LOL.

We can, but it's not like we owned Nova when they were at their peak. Probably closer to the opposite.

The odds of Denmon, English, Dixon and Flip Pressey all going cold from outside are pretty slim. We can't exactly exploit the size advantage on offense because that hasn't been our game all year. And it's tough to score on Mizzou in transition. We would need to hit our shots in the half court and/or get a fair share of offensive rebounds.

Wow, just wow.

Well, you said they were 2-3 vs. top 25. if you wanted to be factual you should have said 2-2.

I want nothing to do with KU NC or any Big East teams as they have experianced our Zone. Duke doesnt scare me at all. Michigan State is always tough and Tom is a great coach one of the best in my opinion. My fear is running into a Gtown or Marq down the road.

You just touched upon why those two teams are nothing alike. Mizzou is a very good defensive team with a lot of speed. They don't press as much as they used to, but they still can and do. Ratliffe is a beast inside. He shot 70% on the year and flirted with the all-time NCAA record.

I think Mizzou would shred our zone. All of those guys can shoot and pass. Our emergency press wouldn't work either. We would basically need to get Ratliffe and at least two of the guards in foul trouble. That - and the officiating - is how KU came back and beat them.

That's just silly. Baylor is one ahead of Georgetown and you say they're the same team. Vandy is 26th (I'm seeing 19th) and you're dismissing them?

Unlike last year, we won't see a Big East team until the Elite 8 at the earliest.

Baylor, Florida St. and Michigan win their respective tournaments. Chances a committee member goes missing next Sunday?

Missouri would be a unanimous top line team right now if they had won the last Kansas game; and likely wouldn't get bumped if they lost a controversial 3rd game in OT. And now people want to say they have no shot at it if they win a potential rubber match in the Big12 Finals? Haha, wow, ok.

Mark my words... I guarantee Michigan St is our #2. Book it, and I dont like it

why would you make a statement like this? as if you are predicting something of great significance or going out on a limb of some sort? I mean the odds are good that they could be but who cares

Only way we can run into one of the top 4 teams from the Big East is in the Final Four. Anyone ranked 5 through 10 in the BE is fair game to see in our regional bracket. So if we see Marq or Gtown, it will be in New Orleans. I'll take my chances with anybody in the Final Four.

Missouri finished 2 full games behind kansas in the big 12. Id have a hard time giving a 1 seed to a team that finished 2 games out in their conference, and im sure the committee does too. And they have a bad rpi for a potential 1 seed.

Well I'm sure you're wrong that the committee obsesses over "two full games" as much as you; particularly when 2 full games is a phantom foul away from being a tie.

It's not exactly a middling RPI. They're 13th.

For a team contending for and having the resume characteristics of a one seed it is.

The one seed discussion is as open as it has ever been entering tournament week.

6 teams have a reasonable shot at only 2 spots with a win in their conference tourneys.

And really its mean nothing other then prestige. The only big advantage is that you get to miss Syracuse until the final four...
