Corrected,

First off, I don't care how much dredging or waste treatment they do, that lake will never be clean in mine, yours or our children's lifetimes. As far as concerts go, I don't go to those concerts DMB, Phish, etc.
Also, are you comparing the SPAC venue in Saratoga, a fantastic city, to an amphitheater next to the 3rd most polluted lake in the world? Did the SPAC cost $30 million? My guess is that the prices that you are used to at the SPAC will not be the same as here if the venue costs $30 million or more.
The smell of the lake is worse in my mind since the dredging. You can smell it clear as day from 690 even in the winter. Don't know what that means for the cleanup if anything.

You are naturally going to smell things when you stir them up. Necessary part of the cleanup process.
I think the algae problem is only a summer thing . The chemical smell is naphthalene according to one article I found. There are also "tar beds" not near the lake that cause odor problems near the lake.Yeah, the actual dredge material is being brought above the surface now. Of course the stench is going to be more noticeable. Also, I'd say that 95% of the "stench" associated with Onondaga Lake has nothing to do with the chemicals in the water. It is mostly just the smell of algae from stagnant areas of the lake, which is not uncommon in a lot of lakes around here.
