I want us to keep track of how the Big East teams perform in this year's tournament, to see if the cliche criticism of underperforming Big East teams holds true this year. I've calculated how many games Big East teams are SEEDED to win.

Wins thru Sunday @ 8 PM
Big East: 14
Big Ten: 11
Big 12: 9
SEC: 8
ACC: 6

Big East
#1 Syracuse: 4.75
#3 Marquette: 2
#3 Georgetown: 2
#4 Louisville: 2
#6 Cincinnati: 1
#7 Notre Dame: 1
#9 Connecticut: 0
#10 West Virginia: 0
#12 South Florida: 0.5

Total Big East Expected Wins: 13.25

**USF play in game 12/12 - counted this as half an expected win.
**Syracuse FF - expected to win .5 + .5*.5 = .75 games in the Final 4

Big Ten
#1 Michigan State: 4.75
#2 Ohio State: 3
#4 Indiana: 2
#4 Michigan: 2
#4 Wisconsin: 2
#10 Purdue: 0

Total Big Ten Expected Wins: 13.75

Big 12
#2 Kansas: 3
#2 Missouri: 3
#3 Baylor: 2
#8 Kansas State: 1
#8 Iowa State: 1
#11 Texas: 0

Total Big 12 Expected Wins: 10

ACC
#1 North Carolina: 4.75
#2 Duke: 3
#3 Florida State: 2
#11 NC State: 0

Total ACC Expected Wins: 9.75

SEC
#1 Kentucky: 4.75
#5 Vanderbilt: 1
#7 Florida: 1
#9 Alabama: 0

Total SEC Expected Wins: 6.75

Mid-Majors
#5 Wichita State: 1
#5 New Mexico: 1
#5 Temple: 1
#6 UNLV: 1
#6 Murray State: 1
#6 San Diego St: 1
#7 Gonzaga: 1
#7 St. Mary's: 1
#8 Creighton: 1
#8 Memphis: 1

Total Mid-Major Expected Wins: 10

Basically, if the Big East collectively wins exactly 13 games, we'll probably still get singled out as the most underperforming conference this tournament, but at least you will have some numbers to back up your argument.

BTW, 13 games is definitely attainable. Cuse to FF, GTown, Marq, and UL to the S16 almost does it right there.

Michigan St. losing early will almost certainly ruin Big Ten's chances of reaching their expected wins
