I've watched a good amount of video on Battle but wanted to get someone who has seen him in person. You watch these highlight videos or 10 minutes of action and you don't always get the right feel for the type of player he is. He seems to be an above average perimeter shooter who is athletic and can do some creating but needs to work on his ball handling and continue to get stronger. He is a 5 star kid so obviously can come in an start right away. Since he is an off guard do we think he will leave right away (after 1 year). It is usually big guys and point guards that do this although Russell at OSU just did.

I haven't been following the schollie stuff too closely in a while, but that was my initial thought. We currently have at my count, 10.

We're losing for sure 2 guys, Mike and Trevor. That would leave 9 returning guys, (including Chukwu), meaning we could only add 1, we now have commits from 2. There has been talk of Coleman finishing up this year, theoretically he couldl go and we'd be at 10.

But it seems like we probably won't be adding anyone else? if we do, then it's a sign we're for sure probably getting one back, no?

So we're at 11 currently. That means we'll have to delay the scholarship limits (instead of this coming year, they would go into effect the season after next: 2016-17).

(By Edit) However, that year (Battle's class), 'G and TC will have graduated, so we'll have 11 (so the staff must know something we don't):

I try and follow the recruiting, but certainly not as much as some others here. This seems like a pretty huge get for us; is there any thought that Battle could play the 1? I'm not sure KJ or Howard will ever be an elite level PG, plus the idea of putting 2 guys with that size at the top of the zone is pretty intruiging to me.

Aboslutely, playing the 1 I think is what sold Battle on cuse, (and the proximity to NJ) Also, having two ball handlers up top, KJ and TB/FH is only an advantage. Think Scoop/Triche, Triche/MCW.

That's actually been the big selling point. We're the only school that was recruiting Battle to serve as a PG. Everyone else wanted him at the 2 or 3. He wants the ball in his hands, and we're the school giving that to him.

That's what I thought, and I saw a quote saying he wanted the ball in his hands a lot. My quick googling seems to have him as more of a 2, but short of a huge jump by Kaleb this year I'm assuming he's getting every chance to play the 1. Plus unless Malachi leaves this year, the most likely scenario is those 2 are the best guards we have, so you want them on the court as much as possible.

I am confident we'll get scholarships back. I foresee 1 scholly per year and a year reduction in the penalty. 2 for 3 years. It'll take some time, but in Kent we trust.

Not sure what's going to happen with the JB suspension. That could end up an ugly affair. No way his vacated wins hold up when everything was given back to Paterno and PSU.

Not really... he is a 5 star in the same way that MCW and Waiters were 5 stars.

they dropped over the course of a few years. Battle was #9 - and now he is 20-27. there certainly are not 20 1 and done players per year.

The rare excpetion was that Christmas stayed 4 yrs as opposed to leaving after 2 or 3 years.
