It basically just means that they don't have to try out -- that they're guaranteed a spot as a walk on by the coaching staff.

Exactly. I would have to think Bayer was a PWO before he got put on scholarship. I wouldn't transfer from Grinnell to Iowa unless there was at least a guarantee I would make the team.

This would a good video if he was a 6'7" guard playing against 6"4 to 6'8' defenders but, he is 6'1" playing against 5'9-6'0" defenders.
