I think my first sentence expresses my thoughts quite clearly and isn't hard to understand. The second sentence is my opinion and I'll stand by it.
What are you standing by? What is our agenda? What is my agenda?

My general reading of the board these days. I'm not singling you or anyone else out, so relax.

An honest question, without any motive, agenda, etc. Does that first year qualify or meet the definition of outlier? Just asking.
Can I answer? That first year was what we look like before sanctions take place. if, we were under sanctions for the rest of time, a result like that would be an outlier. Buy we aren't. things will get better. As an aside, I think the league has got better over that 14-4 season. That team doesn't go 14-4 in the old Big East. Probably doesn't go 14-4 in this years ACC.

I post things that I hear from impeccable sources. For just this reason, I don't post everything I hear. I still have the bruises from when I posted that Hopkins was named coach in waiting and people on this board attacked me for it. I take no joy in posting what I heard about our strategy for the rest of this recruiting year. I am against it as you are. But no one in this thread any any agenda other than sharing what we have heard. Disagree with the strategy all you want. Don't believe it all you want. But it ridiculous to assail some agenda on the people just repeating what they have heard from good sources.

We were rolling then. Times changed a lot with early entries and probation. One part is now over, the question is how to we manage the guys that go quick.

rumor has it that you are an expert on that.

I appreciate what you bring to the board and share here. I hope you continue to do so, but that's up to you.

When I referenced agendas, I was thinking of them in a broader sense, and how a certain segment of the fan base seems to take news like the Moyer and Bazley defections and run wild with speculation and innuendo and their same old criticisms of the program.

How is it blowing hot air when it’s not opinion and what a person is told.
If I heard we were pursuing a player I would have said we are still actively pursuing a player.

Opinion can be seen as hot air but opinion wasn’t the info it was facts.
Also notice what a person you may like right here is saying. He is spelling it out to a tee.

I don't get your comment at all. No one here that has said that we are not going after another player is in agreement with that strategy. No one. Not me for sure. Or Alsacs or Iommi. We are just repeating what we have been told. Could something change? Of course. We all hope something changes. But what agenda are you talking about? If you don't want what information any of us gets, that can certainly be arranged.

I question it because people were saying it within what? 24 hours of JB finding out? Not even time for he and the staff to digest it and think about next steps.

You included me in that group. You might not have meant to. The thing is br801, everyone here is in agreement that this is a bad strategy . I think our team next year is very close to being very, very good. Regardless of Bazley. I want another guy on the team. I have made that clear. Hopefully, things will change up on the hill. I know there is a meeting scheduled later in the week. Maybe a clearer vision will come forward.

I agree that that shouldn't be our strategy. The coaches are meeting later in the week. Hopefully things will change. But, the staff doesn't want or like 5th year guys. That is a fact. It wasn't just Thorpe. I get the sense that they didn't like Gillon. In any case, that is the way it was as of last week. Could it change? I hope so. We will see.

You may not like me. Fine
We all have sources.
After the Bazley news I hit mine up.
They told me we are done.
Others did the same.
Others have said the same.
Again I know you don’t believe this but I want what I was told to be wrong.
We need another front court player.
I am not making up what I was told.
My opinions are opinions what I was told wasn’t an opinion.
You can choose not to believe fine.
The staff doesn’t want to go grad transfer route Jake basically said something similar to what I was told. One of the people he said I would say I heard more things he knows.

I am sure we wanted that kid who chose Seton Hall. If there comes out a decommitment that interests the staff I am hoping they pursue. I was told there is nothing out there now they want. Thus we are done for now.

Alan Griffin said on Orange Nation today that not all the coaches are at the Final Four, (he isn't) and the staff hasn't even gotten together to discuss what they are going to do next.

Not exactly true. Griff isn't at the final four and neither is G-mac. He was at a wedding. Both JB and AA are at the final four. And they are going to get together later in the week. But as of last week, there was no intention of going after anyone else. That isn't my opinion. They don't like 5th year guys ( I do) and there was no one that they saw available as a high school sr they wanted. Could it change later this week when they meet? Sure. I hope so. But that is where we are right now.

We have 5 guys who could replace Battle, (Howard, with Carey or Washington playing the point, Carey or Washington with Howard playing the point, Hughes or Boeheim). We have two good forwards in Brissett and Dolezaj. We have two good centers. If they get someone else it would likely be a center or forward and it will probably be just to add some depth. That would rule out grad transfers, who want to start. It's too late to pull in a blue chipper. Even the few uncommitted guys already have a short list we aren't on. I see a JUCO or EURO player and the question is: do they want to use that scholarship on them or on a better player next year?

What was not exactly true? I don't see a contraction between what I posted and what your posted.

Me: "Alan Griffin said on Orange Nation today that not all the coaches are at the Final Four, (he isn't) and the staff hasn't even gotten together to discuss what they are going to do next."

You: "Griff isn't at the final four and neither is G-mac. He was at a wedding. Both JB and AA are at the final four. And they are going to get together later in the week."

Starters: Howard, Carey, Oshae, Marek, PC

Buddy and Elijah play 15-20 each between the 2/3 spots. Sid subs in for Paschal and occasionally plays the 4 next to him. We need Howard Washington for insurance as a 9th body so we don't allow him to redshirt even though he probably should.

Other thoughts.
1. Don't be shocked if Carey comes off the bench since hes the only guard other than Frank who can play the point and one of Buddy or Hughes ends up starting. Think Triche and Dion with Carey being Dion and one of those two Brandon.
2. Love the team but HW and Sid's injury situation worries me. We might really lament not being able to redshirt one/both of them next year due to numbers if they are still getting over their injuries. Add Bazley to that lineup and I bet both end up getting redshirted with Marek getting most of his minutes at the 5. We'll miss Moyer next year since he can play across the front court 3-5 if Sid isn't 100%. This is where I look for an athletic juco/euro/grad someone with a high motor that might not be as tall as we want but can give us minutes at the 5, rebound, and be a disruptive presence on the wings. Need to scout for someone like the guys on Buffalo to fill that role IMO.

You would think they want to add two guys. One to hedge against Sidibe not recovering at the 5 and a forward who can make 3's/handle the ball. Going into next year with the current 7 healthy bodies is the definition of doing the same thing over again expecting different results.

This year it was the back court that was thin. Next year its the forwards.

Makes perfect sense and it comes from a coach.

When was the last time the staff spoke with Bazely prior to the McD'a AA game? I have no idea. Are they still under restrictions for communicating with recruits if the recruit has an LOI?
... do they want to use that scholarship on them or on a better player next year?
The issue is that SU is very selective about the type of player that they want. That, generally, excludes a whole bunch of talent that doesn't fit for various reasons. It's hard enough for teams to put together a 4+ recruit class. So trying to get 4-6 "good" recruits is tough with a smaller selection of candidates. By punting on filling scholarships each year, it becomes harder keep the talent pipeline full. Sanctions were tough, I'm sure, but JAB also took two traditional transfers in that time and has said that he prefers 10-11 scholarship players each year anyway. It's not like prior to sanctions he had a solid 13-man roster every year. There's not a lot of room for error by punting each season and hoping better recruits are available next season. By leaving three schollies open that's ~25% of the available roster ...

We were rolling then. Times changed a lot with early entries and probation. One part is now over, the question is how to we manage the guys that go quick.
So you list 2 variables and admit 1 variable (aka Excuse) has passed. So if SU continues to struggle in ACC at what point do you admit maybe THE most important variable/excuse is being in ACC? Talk about times changing!

Makes perfect sense and it comes from a coach.
lol Yep. We are lying or making it up. Or maybe we are trying a reverse thing where we want them to bring in someone so that we are saying that they won't. Or maybe we heard it from not one but two coaches. If only Jb had a way to communicate to his coaches when he was away from Syracuse. I predict that someday there will be a tool for that.

They have phones.
