2018 Yankees Thread...

Can someone interpret this tweet for me? They pulled him at the end of 1, skipped the 2nd and 3rd innings, and then he returned in the 4th inning? Can you re-enter games in the minors?

Resumed game from last month. Game resumed in the 4th inning.

For those of you scoring at home...

We were at 39 players on the 40 when Hale was DFA'd earlier in July

Additions to 40:
Britton
Happ
Robinson
Voit

Subtractions from 40:
Drury
McKinney
Shreve
Gallegos

Still at 39.

After today's festivities...

Additions to 40:
Lynn

Subtractions from 40:
Warren
Austin

Still here:
Ellsbury

Now at 38.

If he was actually “bad,” he would have a negative WAR like Chasen Shreve.

Based on this year’s stats, Archer would be somewhere between the third and fifth best starting pitcher on the Yankees.

Your hanging your hat on a .5 WAR?

I do agree he’d be the 5th best starter.

I get the Warren trade, take the international $, can't keep Kahnle in AAA forever, overall numbers logjam.

I just wish it wasn't to a team who will likely decide this entire season's fate in 1 game. Unless of course, he comes in a gives up 3 runs in his inning, then it was an even better move.

I wonder if the two open slots on the 40 man roster are being saved for Sheffield and someone else they want to get on the 40 man?

So the Yankees are likely one of these teams the Nationals have discussed a deal with over Harper.
Rumor is Nats owner doesn’t want Harper dealt.
This one would cost real prospects.

I've been surprised before, but I don't see anything happening there.

Nats waited too long to talk.

I also think they did damage by putting it out there. Regardless of the owner, their whole story was we're not moving him because we think we can re-sign him.

Only solution now is for them to go on a run. Fixes all clubhouse problems. They have all the talent to do it, and two teams above them are showing they're not quite ready for this. NL East is a race to the bottom.

It's been a terrible situation all year. Replaced a managerial sage with a rookie, Harper gets special treatment from ownership and manager and he's a wreck, and the injury thing is really bad.

That being said they gave away 2 winnable games last week and have a real chance to make up ground fast.

Tonight would be odd at the ballyard if the whole scene wasn't just some happy hour and truly forgiving baseball fans.

Real prospects???

Damn.

Fine.

Brien Taylor, Jackson Melián & Ed Yarnall for Harper.

Yankees have an "open" spot until Lance Lynn reports, so here's an emergency long man for the day (or 2).
