2019 NY Football Giants Season ..

I was told by my Giants friend that your team is likely going to change uniforms this offseason. Probably going to go back to the Simms era uniforms modernized.
As they will want a change from the Eli era to a new era.
Makes sense. The red on the road uniforms always seemed weird when you guys are Big Blue.
The 2nd Greatest Trick the Devil ever pulled is convincing the world the New York Football Giants are ‘Big Blue’, when they’ve worn red more often.

I’m ok with going back to blue #s on road, but not white pants too.

Always lost in the all whites.

ny helmet logo MUST STAY.

With a good draft and smart signings I do think we’re poised to make a big jump. There are a lot of promising young players on the roster.

Is Eli retiring or does he want to try and continue elsewhere?

nobody knows.

if im him, i sign with nobody and keep working out.

wait for the inevitable injurys to occur... and then choose wisely..

Come on Giants...this is your superbowl. defeat the eagles.
BUT wait..
I then also want to see the red skins defeat the cow boys
Im all for maximum carnage.

Wish list:
1. New DC
2. Smart FA signings to bolster the defense and OL
3. Another solid draft

Shurmur...can take or leave him.

Gettleman should stay.

Disagree with both your points after #3. Start from scratch. How much worse can it get?

With Gettleman...I think he did well to get rid of Beckham, Collins, and Vernon - their production doesn’t come close to matching the price tags at this point.

He’s mostly drafted well. Think he deserves a chance to use the cap space that he created, and to see his plan through a bit.

Shurmur - I haven’t seen anything to hang your hat on in favor of him yet. At the same time, I don’t blame him for the horrific performance of the defense which has been the biggest reason we’ve been bad.

Re: Shurmur, I guess that’s my point. I need someone who will take what’s given and make it better. And I blame Gettleman for not giving him a better team.

Gettleman looks to be right about Daniel Jones. Took stones to make that pick. He should stay. I don't much like Shurmur but you can't start over every 2 years with a new coach and a new system and have any success. If they had a decent defense they would win several more games. Hire a new DC and give the guy 1 more year.

Quick thoughts on Gettleman/Shurmur...

1) Gettleman - I don’t think people understand how long it takes to turn over a roster. You may not like the fact that he dumped Vernon, Collins, Snacks & Odell, but tbh, it’s not looking like a bad idea at the moment.

The Giants have a ton of cap space and look to have drafted some solid young talent...

His whole mantra was to compete while re-shaping the roster, that didn’t work. But I think he at least gets another year and most likely two to finish the work behind his blueprints... I’m actually a little higher on what he’s done than most. Not a lot of dead weight right now, he’s got a lot of clay and $ to work with.

Year 3 is a BIG year.

2) Shurmur - a lot of people point to the defenses failures and say that you need a new DC. Well, he hired his DC and oversaw how Betcher ran his unit. It’s been outright bad at times.

Through the entire season I saw a defense that was not on the same page and communicated poorly. That’s on the DC and Shurmur. I get that a lot of the secondary was young, but that’s no excuse for the guys who’d been playing all year to not even understand their assignments.

Betcher must go.

As far as Shurmur, I don’t mind his offense. Some ply calls are frustrating but I see the potential. That’s about the only piece of his plan that I’ve thought was ok.

The defense, game management and player control has been sub par. I hate hitting the reset button too soon, but right now, I think it’s justified given that the Giants get their candidate to replace.

Tough year, very tough. I think better days are on the horizon though.
