So I'll be going to the game against the Orioles Tuesday night and it looks like as of right now German lines up to be the starter.

Never would have guessed that would be the most exciting option to luck into seeing.

I dunno man, that's not the impression I got. Seems he's still PO'd over Voit getting plunked, and adding that to a game for first he was pretty animated. With Gardy struggling, it's great to see some leadership from another source.

I seem to recall some years ago the Yankees had a starter come from relative obscurity and ran off like a 12-0. But then faded in the playoffs? Anyone? Anyone? ... Bueller?

Yep, good one. He was 10-0 in 2005, got slapped by LAA in the playoffs. then went 0-3, 8.46 the next year. There was a big controversy over the off season over whether he should be offered a big contract for '06.

What in the world has happened to that poor kid? He used to be almost lights out, and not very long ago either. When I saw him earlier this year (before he was sent down) he seemed to have no confidence at all.
