2019 Yankees Thread...

My guess, and this is just a guess, is that Ellsbury can't play baseball again because of his hip. And because he's injured, the Yankees are collecting insurance against his salary. If Ellsbury retires, he forfeits his remaining salary - which he won't do because why would anyone do that? If the Yankees release him, he gets the remainder of his salary but the Yankees no longer receive the insurance payments.

So, by keeping him on the IL indefinitely, the Yankees and Ellsbury are basically committing technically legal insurance fraud. He's injured, and he may play again, but he probably won't and this just keeps the scam running.

The NFL has a "Physically Unable to Perform" List which I think is different than an injury list in that they don't count against rosters, but the team retains their rights, and they still get paid. Why doesn't baseball have one, too?

Ellsbury doesn’t count toward the 40 man limit.

So, Verducci just mentioned that with the new trade deadline, the only trades allowed going forward are for minor league players. Does Frazier count as a minor league player? If so, I wonder if the Yanks could extract extra value for him in August and further stock their farm system for an offseason trade. A team like Cleveland (even with Puig) may want someone who can contribute now (by calling up Frazier) and be willing to give up 2-3 top lower-level prospects.

It's only a matter of time before Cash packages Frazier in a deal. Maybe having more prospects can make an offseason deal more advantageous.

Under the new rules adopted this season, no player that has been on a Major League contract at any point in 2019 may be traded until after the World Series, meaning only players on Minor League deals who have not been promoted to the big leagues this year can be dealt.

Unfortunately for the Yankees that's just about everybody currently on the SWB Roster

Buckle up. Looks like Chapman in the 9th facing the middle of the Sox order.

Just your normal 2 hour, 41 minute Yankees -Sox game with 6 runs scored in the 1st inning.
Imagine having the over in that game?? At the end of 1, you are betting your winnings.

Whoops!!!...

I was stunned when I flipped to the MLB network and the game was ending before 9 central. Have the Sox and Yanks ever brought one home in under 4 hours let alone 3?
