2020 MLB Season...

He does pretty well when the batters don't know what is coming :) But seriously, nice to see one of the good guys in baseball get that playoff criticism off his back for a night.

Im curious what his postseason numbers would look like if you eliminated:

1) the games they pitched him on 3 days rest...or less
2) the games they brought him out of the bullpen
3) The 2013 Cardinal game where he pitched great for 6 innings, and Mattingly left him in as he gave up hit after hit in the 7th - that’s really the game that started his postseason rep.

If his managers would stop being lazy and insecure and stop treating him like he’s some magic pill, and instead use him the same way you did all season, I think he’d have a much different postseason resume. Because he’s pitched quite a few great games too, and many of his most infamous “bad” moments were from being used weirdly. Not all pitchers are built for that Bumgarner stuff.

I REALLY don’t like seeing the Astros and A’s playing in Dodger Stadium. It just doesn’t make sense to me.

Agree it will be strange. I am always on the side of safety and caution during the pandemic, but baseball was doing well after the Cardinals and Marlins started behaving.

not really understanding why they couldnt do the safety thing for home teams any better than sending them to LA?

I would rather then just played all the games at the higher seed since home field energy is gone anyway.

Hot take... Top 5 hats in MLB:

1. Dodgers
2. Tigers
3. A’s
4. Brewers
5. White Sox

hon. mention: Yankees(iconic, but the Tigers is just better in that classic dark navy catergory), Phillies, Pirates, Jays, Red Sox

I guess I don’t really see much difference? Can’t they just do a “bubble” in both teams home cities? Like...there’s playoff games at Dodgers Stadium, but the Dodgers are playing in Texas...meanwhile a Texas team is playing in LA.

I don’t know. The bubble clearly worked in the NBA, but MLB has had their own version of a bubble and it’s worked fine as long as nobody has gone rogue...which they’re not going to in the playoffs. The Dodgers organization already had their guys going above and beyond before the playoffs even started, not taking any chances. I’m sure the other teams are too.

That’s a good idea too.

On the positive side, nobody will be playing games in often nasty late October northeast weather, which always just seems stupid for baseball.

nothing better than baseball in april in NY when its snowing and the field is a mass of mud using the bat bags as blankets to block the wind with the heavy canvas.

lol, it’s so ridiculous. Play some games, and then have to practice in the gym for the next 10 days because of a snowstorm, and then play 5 games in a week to get the cancelled games in, and end up either destroying your best pitchers’s arms by overusing them or throwing kids who stink.

Royals & new Padres cap are sharp.

Tigers whites are among the sharpest unis in all of sports imo.

Agreed on both accounts.

Royals are easy to slip under the radar as a franchise in general, but theirs are solid.

yeah and in some rush to get the season done before the good weather came in june.. Back then we had no state tourney either so thats a couple weeks we didnt get to play.. then summer ball kicked in, no rain fields turned into rocky dust bowls and the fields were like sliding on concrete and pants torn to shreds.. These kids have it so easy with these nice uni's and maintained fields and special bats, huge gloves. helmets that dont weigh 10 lbs, sun glasses..

lol. My experience:

as a kid, only the couple rich kids on the team had their own bats and they let everybody use them if they wanted to.

First years coaching: Everybody had their own bat.

Was out of it for a few years and then got back into it and...

Now EVERYBODY has their own bat... AND helmet.

It’s a different world. When I was a kid, I don’t think nobody ever even thought about wanting their own helmet, let alone talked about it. It just wasn’t a real thing. If the kids batting before you got on base, you might get stuck wearing an enormous helmet and have to wear your hat underneath, as it still wobbled around when you swung and ran, lol.

yup. if you knew you were up next inning run in and grab the 2-3 that fit and the rest was pot luck and hope the guys on base scored.. screw high 5s for scoring , just give me your helmet.

1 bat size sometimes 2.little kids better be able to bunt cause they couldnt swing the bats too big.. and the day the one bat you liked broke it was tough. went to Legion ball and holy crap Aluminum bats whats this..

Could mlb pick worse times for tomorrow's games? 1 and 9. Seriously?

So annoyed they put the Dodgers on at 9:40. I’m looking at 1:00 AM if I want to watch the whole thing...which I’m sure will be the same thing on Wednesday and Thursday. I’ll be able to watch all of game 4 though! Yippee.

Give them 7, and the Yankees 4. Screw the other two games that nobody will watch anyway.

9:40 start is ridiculous... I won’t be able to make it for the whole game for sure. Selfishly, I’m hoping for a 5 game series so get to watch complete games Friday and Saturday.

Sounds like Clevinger will be available for NLDS. You’ll avoid Lamet though.

He is the worst umpire in MLB. Not only is he completely incompetent, he is arrogant and looks to confront players.

No idea how he still has a job. The only thing that MLB should consider when picking umpires for the plays is how good they are at their job.

I hope he doesn't ruin the playoffs.

Rays have to win games 2 and 3 they won’t beat the Yankees if they aren’t up 2-1. I don’t think they will.

Yankees-Dodgers are going to be the World Series matchup.

Only San Diego can stop that.
None of the American League teams have the pitching to stop New York.

Exactly, Discrimination lawsuits when someone is just flat out bad at their job hurt people who truly are discriminated against.
