2020 Pre-Spring 2-Deep

SUPER psyched to see Hendrix & Caleb are both (apparently) full-go!

Surprised to see Petry crack the OL 2-deep already - given there are other bigger, theoretically more experienced guys around.
(Cough, cough - Qadir White?? - cough, cough)

Cameron Jordan does not have the speed/quickness to start at WR in this league. Jackson leaves a big hole.

The OGa are a surprise. No Dakota and no Bleich. I hope a expect they will end up there. We know Bleich isn’t going to be listed unless the NCAA makes him eligible immediately but why in the world isn’t Dakota listed? Maybe he missed some mandatory workouts or something?

if this initial two deep holds up, this would be our biggest team in defense in a long time. Might be our biggest ever. It would surely be our tallest defense ever.

Big linebackers are more valued in the 3-3-5 because they are more flexible, and can fill in on the DL when the defense make last second switches. We are fortunate we have a bunch of fast, athletic and tall players who were recruited to play DE who will fill in well at OLB.

We also went big at DE with Black and big at CB with Trill. I think Ward in general valued speed over size. Looks like White might value size a bit more.

Looks like even our WRs are going to be bigger, and it was interesting to see Jarveon listed ahead of Jordan at RB.

Should be very Interesting to see how the team develops, especially on defense.

Wow really excited to see this team progress thru spring. The post spring 2 deep is going to be crazy.

Need Hendrix and Queeley to produce this year. Need bigger emphasis on TE and both Benson and Hackett to get 200+yrds this year.

tuazama starting dline at 245

love that the LBs are all 6’4 and taller! But shocked that Jones is not starting and Cantin-Arku is not on the outside. But let’s see how spring plays out. Sucks that we don’t get much of anything all spring!

what’s the BS position? Back Safety?

Rover must be the Aztec position

FS spot is kinda interesting...Nunn has to take this

Wait for Alfred and Williams to see some action. I am willing to bet both see the field this year.
I don’t know if thats necessarily positive news considering this core’s made up of 3-4 year system veterans.

Where is Wallace at linebacker? Not on the injured list correct? Then again it’s the first 2 deep of the preseason so who knows where things land.

Very happy to see Cam Jonas crack the two deep. If he is healthy and remains that way, he can be a big contributor on this defense. Go Orange!!!!!!

Biggest surprise for me is Mikel but there is a lot of time this spring to prove his value. Im also surprised Cam Jones wasn't looked at for the Rover before Coley. It may mean Coley is not one of the better cover safeties and they can use his experience for the Rover. Also, Stritzinger backing up Coley tells me they like the cover ability of Williams and Cole at cornerback.

Coming out of Winter this 2-deep can be used to send messages too... some surprises may be from a lack of x, y, z since the end of the season... I’m excited to see some competition this Spring.

  • Pretty crazy that Cam Jordan weighs 42 pounds more than our other starting receiver. Hope he can bring some more physicality to the WR position that I thought was missing last year.
  • Wonder what Mikel Jones is thinking after being the only returning LB with significant playing time last year. Wouldn't mind them giving him a shot at Rover to see if he can earn his way onto the field. He seems to be a good match size wise for that position. Same with Kpogba. Think Richards and Cantin-Arku are going to explode in this Defense once they get comfortable.
  • Really hope we're giving guys like Tisdale and P. Davis (who are likely our top 2 reserve OL) significant practice snapping the ball. Want to be able to keep Servais at OT if Vet would go down.
  • It's actually more interesting seeing the 2-deep w/o D. Davis and Jonathan. This lets us see who are the top reserve linemen on both sides of the ball.
  • I hope to hear some encouraging news about David Summers progress. Need a solid #2 at QB and Culpepper probably is what he is at this point in the program.
  • Even though Adams and Howard are 1 and 2 as expected on the 2 deep, would be surprised (and disappointed) if we don't find a way to get Jordan some touches every game (besides returning kicks).

Bleich just had surgery a couple of months ago. I wouldn't be surprised if they hold him out until Fall camp.
