2021 Fall Camp Starts Friday August 6th

Always good when you see a TE catching the ball in our offense lol

So in the limited clips we’ve seen Mahar with a catch and Mang with what appears to be a TD catch. Morris is quitting why?

Just from the limited snaps we’ve seen, Howard is the biggest surprise to me. Wow. Looks like a different back. He will be a great compliment to Tucker - who also looks great. And Lutz looks like he’s competing well too. Could be the best backfield since the Nassib years.

There has been nothing we’ve seen so far that gives any indication how the QB battle is going. No idea how that will shake out, still think Shrader wins it outright because I think this team is going to have more success running than passing initially.

Service’s interview with Brian Higgins was somewhat telling about the super seniors really being upset by last year and wanting to go out with a better performance. Certainly it can be selfishly motivated to get a better look at the NFL…but it certainly didn’t hurt the DBs who left. I think their return is sincerely about winning.

Chestnut looks like a ball hawk like Cisco. Kid got his head around and found the ball. Sooo many DBs never master that part of the game.
if we can be solid in the back 4, this defense can be good, really good.

loved Max Mang as a recruit, love seeing him behind the defense in that photo. That wasn’t a flat route off a bootleg. Hope he’s a seem guy to give secondaries second thoughts.

I have no idea what I’m looking at with the OL….others have posted their thoughts.

SMH that we already have a freshman leave the team because he felt he wasn’t being given a fair shake. This transfer rule is going to weed out some of the participation trophy types. Might not be a bad development.

Mang is also being chased by the 255lb true freshman DE Jatius Greer. Interesting that Geer is the guy giving chase but I’m glad to see the kid busted it all the way down field.

We might have something really great if we have a QB who can throw to a guy like Mang. You can't teach a player to be athletic, and be 6-7 and 265 lbs.

I don't recall we had particularly awesome backfields during the Nassib years?

yup we rushed for 5000 yards with that backfield in 2012 and 2013, Best two year stretch of rush yards in probably 20 years.
I would say they ran the ball well, but I wouldn't say they were a particularly talented backfield.

And I even liked those guys! PTG was smoove!

I dont think point of his response was about how talented the backfield was. More about production and those two were pretty productive.

Could be. I interpreted "best backfield" differently.

Like I’ve posted couple times already this summer…. It’s clear the strength of this team on offense is the backfield depth. Basically the opposite of wideout. Legitimately 4 guys who could get carries (and this leaves out Hough, given a freshman. I try not to completely overhype players..).

Hard to imagine saying this given what we’ve experienced and have been wanting for the better part of 20 years, but we are built to run and it should be a key focus. And it starts with Tucker, who was a clear positive last year in a season full of plenty of negative

Very excited to see him play again. Hard runner. Unfortunately he will get dinged up because of that nature. And that’s where the depth is enormous.

Best backfield. That could mean talent or production. Talent doesnt mean anything if you dont produce. Those guys were part of of productive run game. I think thats why he referenced them.

yeah. It was that they produced….best as in most productive. Could have been the coaching, or they were just pretty talented.

No I get you. I think mentally I landed in a weird place with it because if this is our best backfield since then... it's another example of how limited our talent has been on the offensive side of the ball overall for a while now.

My head went to the same place (talent vs production) and took me all the way back to 1998

McIntosh 5.2 YPC 740 yarfs 4td
Konrad 4.5 YPC 417 yarfs 7td (NFL)
D Brown 5.2 YPC 299 yarfs 7td (NFL)
Mungro 7.3 YPC 365 yarfs 3td (NFL)

Yeah... that's what I'm talking about.

Gadsden is a big dude
They have some serious size and athleticism in this young receiver group. Alford, gadsen, Hatcher, long. All 6’2” or taller Jones is skinny but 6’4” and williams is only 6’1” but looks like he’s been lifting since he could walk. Really like the potential of this offense in the future, and hopefully this year! Also forgot queeley is 6’2” and only are soph.
