2021 Fall Camp Starts Friday August 6th

Dungey got knocked out of the ND game like 3 plays into it, IIRC.
So while he did technically start that one, he was gone in a blink of an eye.

And, sadly, our entire gameplan for ND was going to be having Dungey make them pay for being overly aggressive w/ the blitz, which was not something Tommy had in his bag, and so we got curbstomped.
my selective memory has blocked that entire Notre Dame game out of my brain. The major issue to the best season in years. :)

Just like Dino, this is just 2 years ago too.

Did not take that statement that a particular qb was separating himself. He said he’s seen some separation but followed that up that they have given multiple reps to a lot of players and they are going to tighten it up. Statement could mean separation between 1/2 or 3 and the rest of the qbs. DB never shows his hand.
Hmmm. I think you are correct.

It was a leading question by Bailey but Babers does actually say Hanna and Carter are in the lead at the end of his response at the 7:45 mark.

After getting on the field they started most of the season last year so no surprise.

QB separation this early. Would think that favors the incumbent….unless Shrader is really ripping it up.

This was my interp as well - gotta be TD as of now.

Also, and not trying to be a negative Nancy like some, it bears a reminder that Mike Leach moved Shraeder to WR at MSU. I know he started some games at QB in the SEC but that is a red flag to me and should be kept in perspective as we set expectations.

Even if TD is named the starter, he obviously has to do well to keep the job. I don't think the competition is over until end of OOC portion of the schedule.

Thats been brought up many times here. I dont think that a new system and new coach coming in and moving him somewhere to get him on the field is a bad thing. He is not a pocket passer, and that is what Leach looks for.

While that is something to wonder, Leach has really never had his QBs play with the skill set of Shrader. His QBs have never scrambled for tons of yards like what Dungey did in Dino's offense. The Air Raid and the Veer and Shoot offenses are only a little similar

Thanks for pointing that out Nancy!

Good point with regards to the scramble aspect of Leach QBs. Though I will say that I don't believe Dino's offense was built for scrambling to be the focal point of the offense (see Matt Johnson at Bowling Green and Jimmy G at EIU). Thank god for ED, lol.

I guess what my point was is that Shraeder was a great addition for depth purposes but to think he would beat out DeVito may be an unrealistic expectation. And that thesis is based on the fact that his position was changed after starting games at his previous school. Typically QBs don't get moved from a position standpoint. Doesn't mean he can't be a great QB here - fingers crossed - but probably more of a wait and see.

Again based on what im hearing i expect Shareder to start by ACC schedule

I think for this offense to succeed long term, it will have to feature a QB that can and scramble like ED did cause of the talent disparity between the factory schools and the rest of the league in the trench positions. I do agree Dino prolly originally envisioned this offense having a pocket passer.

I think, and I said this when Shrader committed, if he can be a good improvement over what Rex gave us last year, then that is good start. And naturally, having a better backup QB would pressure TD to improve and not get complacent.

Not really, have you seen Devito out there or no? Cause it hasn’t looked too great
