2021 Fall Camp Starts Friday August 6th

If we were winning 8 games every year it’d be easier to swallow but coming off a 1 win season it might be good to get fans engaged.

I think it shows weakness to not allow a little more access like almost every other team in the country does. What’s he afraid of? Even if we come out running the wishbone this year how long would it take for teams to adjust?

Look at the difference in size with Carter compared to Hanna. Dude needs to start eating. I don’t see him lasting a whole season at that size.

He got dinged a lot last year. Nothing crazy serious luckily but not at all surprised the nicks pile up given the stature. I was actually shocked at times he was in there.

I dont know how anyone knows who has more potential., we know one guy can throw given time but maybe struggles to elude pass rush.. we know one guy can run around , but struggles to throw. until we know what the oline is gonna do we dont really know who can do what in this offense. I am on the Oline has to block train.. if they do then the QBs get a chance to show what then do. if the oline cant block then we become a more run the ball and throw when we can offense and that points towards Shrader. too soon to say thats where we are headed.
Ohio gave up almost 200 a game last year on the ground.

Guessing the game plan will be plenty of hand offs

I understand and agree this has nothing to do with hiding information from opponents. But this is a terrible way to promote the program to fans and or recruits.

We could be using Newhouse as a resource to promote the program. How hard would it be to post a video profile of a few players every day? What harm would it do to help fans learn something about the players who make up the team they support?

Start with a 10 second video of the layer in action using current clips form practice.

Provide a profile of the player;

Name
Hometown
Position
Year in the program

Then a couple silly questions;

Favorite place to eat in Syracuse?
favorite thing about SU?
Major?

Simple stuff that would help fans know a little (very little) something about the player they are rooting for.

There are so many ways to promote the program. Radio silence like this is foolish.
They do this on the scoreboard before games.

So you have to be at the game in order to see this?

There are millions more people at home who never attend games, but might buy a ticket or a t-shirt if there were somehow engaged.

We used to get 10 minutes a day, of mostly irrelevant stuff, that fed die hard faithfulls. Now we have to wait FOUR practices for the slightest glimpse? This blows. I'm all for protecting players, but pretending they don't exist does nothing for me. I'm not going to fan fest. They are already ignoring me. I can't imagine a worse fan engagement plan, because it likely DOES NOT exist. I need to watch Josh do flips, instead of watching him play football? No thanks. This feels more like being relegated to 128th class.
This stuff used to bother me as well, now I realize the most important part of fan engagement by a long shot is the number under the “W” column. Nothing else really matters. Die hard are diehards. You need the casual fan influenced by the success.

Yep. You can improve the game-day environment and promote on social media as much as you want but nobody will come to see a losing team. Don’t really care what you do.

Yup I expect to run the ball against them
After initially disagreeing with kcsu's thread about it earlier this year, I've come around to thinking "I expect them to run the ball" is going to be a mantra for the season.

You can market and sell an ok restaurant or product. It starts with creating excitement and interest. The winning is up to the coaching staff but that doesn’t mean you can’t sell season passes, clothing, etc. A bad product can survive for some length of time by being marketed. Not promoting/marketing practices before the season starts is lazy. Winning helps but you can start excitement from zero after winning or have excitement already built up prior to winning. Not doing the basics that most other programs do is lazy. Don’t complain about fans if you can’t market the product. If winning is the formula, then definitely don’t complain about fan participation if you’re the coach.

A lot of truth in this. Hard to imagine picking up more fans when your losing. Lots of people jump on the bandwagon after wins.

This.

The casual fan got turned off, again, by 2019. Then if there were any left, they probably chose to watch Korean baseball rather than Cuse in 2020.

This is why there’s no such thing as an asterisk season for Syracuse and Dino imo.

I really think we can be a good run team. We can be even better next year. I’m hoping all the lineman come back. We just lose Servais. Also hope Howard comes back. Tucker Howard Lutz trio could be tough to stop in 2022.

Sure. Its been 2 years since we could watch 10 minutes of practice. And now we get less... stinks.
