I won’t criticize players for grounding into double plays. They’re often fairly-hard hit balls that would be hits if they happened to land a couple of feet in another direction. It’s mostly bad luck.

Ironically, the modern approach to hitting that people criticize (i.e., launch angles designed to get the ball in the air), lends itself to fewer GIDPs. The contact-first approach people are craving will lead to more.
