2021 Yankees Season

Regression to pre All Star Break crappy offense. It will get worse when another regular (Torres) comes back. Division is dead, but they probably did enough to get a wild card birth. Either way they aren't going anywhere in the playoffs.

I don't think Tampa Bay will continue winning at their current pace, just as the Yankee could not, particularly with their approach to getting outs. The division race is far from over.

Yankees currently stand 6 losses behind TB and need to at least be within 3 by the start of the final HTH series. Both teams have 29 games before the 10/1-10/3 series. Let's say Yankees go 18-11 (.620) between now and 10/1. Can Tampa go 15-14 vs. in the following games? 4 vs. Bos, 3 vs. Twins, 3 @Bos, 3 @Det, 3 @Tor, 4 vs. Det, 3 vs. Tor, 3 vs. Mia, 3 @Hou?

I'm just saying the carriage will eventually turn back into a pumpkin for them. Will it be enough for the Yanks to catch them? Who knows, but it is possible.

Back to the first half Yankees. The last two in Oakland the pitching was good and offense disappears. Last night score 7 but pitchers suck.

There's a reason why the very best teams in baseball lose 35-40% of their games.

TB's lead is definitely not insurmountable but a notable losing streak seems very unlikely to me. They have the most balance of any team in the AL. Starters, bullpen, defense and hitting are all solid. Maybe not spectacular but no obvious weaknesses.

Hard to be down after that win streak but last few games have looked like the early part of the season. Way to many missed opportunities on offense and an army LOB and inconsistent pitching eventually cracking and unable to hold leads.

I'm mostly old school. And I'm sorry but a 19% walk rate does not balance off a 50% strikeout rate. Not matter how many times John Kay says "But that's his game," which is ridiculous. Is there a ball player anywhere who will get away with telling the manager, "But that's my game."?

Why in the world is Taillon still in the game? Boone turning back into a pumpkin again.
