2021 Yankees Season

We’ll see tonight what kind of manager Boone is. Does he go with Higgy who is already scheduled to catch Cole tomorrow and 3 straight days. Or does he go back to Sanchez tonight. The good manager stays with the hot hand and better catcher and decides between Sanchez and Stanton for DH.

Agree. No reason Higgy can't catch tonight. Saturday is also a night game, so he wouldn't have to catch a day game after a night game. I ride the hot hand at catcher and let Stanton/Sanchez battle it out at DH with best out of 3 at rock/paper/scissors getting the nod.

Edit: If he catches Saturday, Sunday would be a day game after a night game. Still doesn't change my opinion!

Boones reluctance to prioritize Clint, Devi and to a lesser extent Higgy over an extended period of time shows me he values perception over production

Baby Bombers are what brought us back a few years ago and Boone has completely gone away from giving less proven guys an extended chance to show they are legit

It even took him forever to give Voit the reigns from Bird

Good point. I also think that’s part of the reason they’re flat coming out of spring training. No competition for positions. The lineup and roster are pretty set.

Good point. I also think that’s part of the reason they’re flat coming out of spring training. No competition for positions. The lineup and roster are set and there’s little or no room for someone to break in.

The fact that German, coming off 1 year of no action is getting this kind of leash when Devi showed what he could do last year is inexcusable. It’s not quite as criminal as what we did with ‘joba rules’ but it‘s moving in that direction.
