These are the programs that pickup the hidden gems of HS recruits. Sad to see even schools like this living through the portal.

Well there certainly are situations where a players personal situation influences the decision to portal and it clearly is the right move, it’s impossible to claim that’s the case for a majority of the transfers.

Making it worse, some of those players with a “personal situation” leave a program where their education is paid for for 4 years, and end up in the sidelines with nothing. Making whatever “personal situation” they have, even worse.

He transferred to S Alabama for the 2020-2021 season but opted out. Haven’t heard anything since. Hope all is going well for him. He went through so much and came through it, can’t help cheering
for him regardless what he decides is his future. Determined young man.

Even the blue bloods are doing it. UNC doesn't get as far as they do without Manek. Times are a changing.

The portal is free agency. If you think of this like pro sports you understand that if you want a quick fix it doesn't always immediately come through the draft (hs recruiting). It's often a mix.

It’s coaching malpractice not to mine the portal and improve your roster the best you can. JB is really out of touch. I just don’t think he has good judgment anymore about roster construction.

I would think so but he might be able to petition for extra time for his medical issues plus the Covid stoppage if he wanted to.
