Braves Add to Bullpen With Trades for Pierce Johnson, Taylor Hearn

USATSI_20980588.jpg

The Braves made two minor moves on Monday to fill out their bullpen headcount, acquiring right-handed reliever Pierce Johnson from the Rockies and lefty reliever Taylor Hearn from the Rangers. Heading to Colorado are righty relief pitcher Victor Vodnik, our no. 13 Braves prospect a few months ago, and minor league starter Tanner Gordon. The return for Hearn is unknown as of press time, but it’s unlikely the Rangers will be getting a prospect of much significance...

After the second homer, he grabbed his side/lower back, then left the game. Hope he's ok.
I guess a cramp.

The fact he did this right after the angels said yeah we aren’t trading him is even more hilarious.

What happened to the good old days..... when, if you were a pitcher who didn't occasionally throw at a an opponent, the opponents dug in and showed you no respect?

Eduardo Rodriguez is a loser and I hope he gets rocked every time he pitches for the rest of his career.

Does everyone have a no trade clause? What has that slapdick possibly done to warrant one?

Need a bat far more than another starter

The problem was that there was not many bats on the market once certain teams like the Cubs and Padres decided not to be sellers. Pitching could be had but hitters less so.

The Jays I felt were in a similar situation to the Phils and could really use a bat, but the market today were guys like Teoscar Hernandez (who is having a down year), Tim Anderson (who is having a down year) and Tommy Pham.

In this market Pham was a nice get for the D-backs.

I have no idea how he's kept his job all these years. Terrible behind the plate, terrible when umping the bases.
I think you have an idea how he has kept his job. The MLB Umpire Union protects and gate keeps the game of baseball umpires as the two leading umpire schools are run by former umpires. At least Angel is not work much anymore. CB Bucnor (spelling) is still working alot and is god awful. Not a soccer fan but relegation for umpires would be nice as well as technology taking over called balls and strikes.

True. Gotta say, Hernandez and Bucknor are two good arguments for robot umps. Hate the idea, but, if the blatantly bad umps can't be 'relegated', then bring on the 'bots. Perhaps THAT will shake up the insular nature of the 'thin blue line', baseball-style.
