2023 National Signing Day Thread

Probably more accurate to say that the out of control UM boosters are.

They have a couple of billionaires that are determined to buy a NC. Don't think that is going to happen with MC in charge but they are definitely getting attention from the major college football powers these days.
Look how well that played out for aTm this past season. Let’s hope Miami suffers the same fate.

I imagine it’s got to be very hard to create a team mentality when players are getting millions to sign on without having played a down. The incumbents can’t be thrilled, and likely have some animosity towards the perceived superstars. Maybe great talent will win regardless, who knows.

Let’s be honest, we are ranked someplace like 75th nationally according to ESPN and a couple others and that’s with sellers, say what u want but that’s not impressive by any stretch of the imagination regardless of how things turn out still underwhelming.
Our rankings are almost always the same. We've been at or near the bottom of the ACC for going on 10 years. We're never any better than the 50s nationally for two decades. And honestly, no one can truly differentiate, say, #52 from #72. Basically the bands are "great", "good", "meh", and "ugh". We're always in the "meh".

We'll have multiple guys going to the NFL this year and next, and yet the HS classes those guys came from were ranked basically no different than when we had no one sniffing the draft.

I'd rather be ranked top 25 than not. But that is simply not going to happen for SU. So it's really not worth stressing about.

Get the best we can from HS + grab as many dissatisfied P5 kids in the portal as we can + pray for few injuries = our formula.

It’s chicken or egg… just as it has always been. Want to win more games? You need better players. Want better players? You have to win more games. Somewhere along the line you need to overachieve - as a result of the unique talents of a few players - or some incredible coaching - to break through.

There was an article in the Dallas paper this morning about this kid and his father huddled in a corner of the restaurant where he made the announcement 5 minutes before he switched from ND to Oregon. Now this. I hope they didn't cash the Oregon check.

i pay 1% attention to recruiting. i have no idea who these guys are and coupled with the fact that most guys transfer now it's a total 3 card monty game.

I think for Syracuse stability is a massive carrot we can provide portal guys.

Today is late signing day.

Although everyone was present and accounted for during early signing period, you never know what surprises may lurk.
This sounds like the intro to The Shadow.

If his profile is accurate good base to start with

Looking at the roster and seeing some older guys who may have trouble earning playing time in 2023, I see about a half dozen guys who could hit the portal when the portal opens back up following spring ball.

Are any of the JUCO guys we signed in December on campus? I don't think so. That is concerning.

Anyone who leaves (or doesn't qualify) will be replaced before fall camp.

Right now, I think our scholarship count is at 85.

62 + 22 = 84
