Personally I think Buzz sees it as easier to win in the Big 10 than the SEC. Think he is capped out in Aggie land.

Sounds like a play for a pay raise or extension.

On our board we call it "Beamering" in honor of Frank Beamer's "showing interest" in the vacant UNC job some years ago in order to get a raise from Va Tech.

Willard is an absolute turd of a human. But Buzz is a really good coach, imo. Ask JB. I’m pretty sure he’d agree. Buzz’s winning percentage is somewhat dampened by his first few years at Va Tech and Texas A&M when he was building those programs up.

I think his ceiling is capped because his teams never have any size whatsoever. His system is overly reliant on getting to the FT line.

Both schools are capped at $20.5M to spend. Just a guess but I would think Maryland would allocate more to basketball than A&M. And while A&M probably has more booster dollars also, I'd bet most of it goes to football. Just a guess.

No, its because the deep pocket oil barons would rather overspend on football. Its Texas, the state in which high school football stadiums are more impressive than UB's stadium and probably some other G5 school's stadiums.

Turgeon had a 661 win % at Maryland and they ran him out of College Park. If he was Jimmy Patsos they'd build a statue of the guy at Dewey Beach.

That cap is for revenue sharing and has nothing to do with private NIL deals. I have to believe there is a higher collective or private NIL potential at A&M. Under Armor isn't doing THAT great. That said, about Buzz, didn't Willard leave Maryland in part because they weren't funding basketball, and putting all the collective money to the football program? Is Buzz out of that frying pan at A&M and into the fire with this move?
