100% however I don't think they have the same financial power (Indiana) or local appeal (Iowa).

I could see them going for Josh Schertz, Drew Valentine, Chris Mack, or maybe Sean Miller.
Agree. McCollum likely would prefer Iowa job.

Rumored candidates for Minnesota include Niko Medved (CO St., from MN), Ben Jacobson (N. Iowa), Ryan Saunders (Flip’s son & former TWolves head coach), McCollum & Darian DeVries (WV, from Iowa)

DeVries has a $9.3 million buyout & is making $2.9 million/yr. I bet he wishes he would have stayed another year at Drake but he couldn’t turn down a big contract. He may have been able to pick between Iowa & Minnesota if he waited.

Medved would be a slam dunk. Huge fan of his. Mountain West is a great conference.

McCollum has been rumored for the Iowa job for a couple months. Not sure how our local news guys picked up on, but I have read it more than once.

He must have something on someone.
Maybe they just realized that with the support they have committed to he’ll have the support he needs to be competitive. In the end it’s all about money, and support staff, and let coaches coach.

Wow, Will Wade at NC state will be a problem. Should we go after Chris Beard next season? We’re gonna need a splash hire.
There will be no splash hires. SU needs to show administrative and significant $$$ support to be relevant. The splash SU needs is players people want to pay to go see. Simple as that. Players that want to be at SU.

So is there any way someone doesn’t poach Hodgson with all these high profile openings?

Iona just fired their coach after 2 seasons for not meeting expectations, but don't forget, it's too far fetched to happen.
YEP!

And Iona's coach had the team one game away from a conference championship this season. An in conference, was 4 games above .500 over two seasons.

Our present head coach is 4 games below .500 over two seasons.

Incredible.

Iona lost in the MAAC championship to Mount St Mary’s.

Last year the Mounts HC was our very own Dan Engelstad who led them to a 13-19 record. They replaced him with Donny Lind (former assistant coach at UNC-Greensboro). In his first year, Lind went 22-12 and won the MAAC. Engelstad was HC there for 6 years, and never once won more than 14 games in a year.

Why should we keep him around again? We didn’t get Leffew.

How is SU supposed to compete with schools like Iona that actually take basketball seriously?
Iona had the balls to after Pitino too. And to fire Tobin Anderson 3 days after he lost the Conference Final, and 2 years removed from Anderson taking FDU to the tournament and beating #1 seed Purdue. They are not messing around

Do we know if his firing is due to actual on-court performance and not other stuff?
