I’m shocked that DeVries ended up at Indiana. I was told it by someone close he was going to Iowa. When DeVries was told how little Iowa promised for NIL he didn’t feel he could win big there.

Iowa players only got around $1.5 million total NIL last season. Iowa is planning on giving a bigger amount than most schools of their $20 million to women’s basketball & wrestling leaving less for men’s basketball. Boosters at Iowa also give to other sports programs way more than men’s basketball so they can’t make up any shortfall. Indiana promised double the NIL so DeVries turned down his dream job.

This is a good example how important NIL is.

You are probably correct on that. Indiana hasn't been nationally prominent in forever. I think their fans have probably accepted the downfall. I hope our fans don't accept a downfall for us.

They were a #1 one seed in 2013 (when we beat them on the way to the Final Four). Crean had them relevant and in the tourney most years, and he wasn't even that good of a coach. The right coach can turn them back into an elite national power, I have no doubt.

Indiana fans are very underwhelmed with DeVries hire. They wanted a splash hire like Stevens, Oats, or Pearl. At the end, many wanted Drake’s McCollum. Indiana really screwed up not getting Dusty May last year.

This is Indiana’s 7th head coach since Bobby Knight. I hope Syracuse doesn’t go through 6 coaches with such little success since JB.
