2024-25 College Football Playoff TV Schedule

The committee shouldn't even look at records when picking the field, IMO.

SOS, number of nattys won in last 30 years, and TV ratings should be only things on the team sheet.
Do you never want us to get into the college playoffs. My lord . SOS yes but nattys won in the last 30 years and tv ratings. Yuck get out of here.

Lies, damned lies and... statistics!!
Here's an example of a misleading stat. Indiana #1 defense against the run. They played several cupcakes, jumped out to huge leads where the opponent abandoned the run. So their run stats looked good. They played two legit powerhouses who both bullied them at the LoS. So much for that #1 rushing defense.

Yupp and I think that tonight's result is going to look much closer in an advanced box score even though anyone with a clue could tell that they were outcoached, outclassed and never had a chance after the second possession of the game

Those late, meaningless IU scores are going to make those advanced analytics some folks love appear like the Hoosiers were much more competitive than they actually were.

I’m deeply skeptical of most advanced football metrics. SOS ain’t the only one.

Big ole bet on Dawgs +1.5. I'll be very surprised if they close a dog and will add more if they do. Lol

Yeah that's why the best CFB gamblers are ones that live and breathe the sport. They all use levels of advanced stats but way way way too much variance across all of it to rely solely on numbers.

I would be happier to rely on the eye test with this stuff but the committee members watch the sport less than many of us do. If it was people who held opinions worth considering it'd be a bit of a different conversation, to me.

There were several key pts in that game and every time Indiana blinked. They seemed to have no real game plan other than I hope the back shoulder throw works 40 times today.

Yeah and this result is the worst one for programs like us.

It is already an uphill battle for the non-brand names and now the first game of expanded CFP is "Look what happened when we let THEM in" ammunition for losers who don't want schools like Syracuse in "their" CFP.
The funny thing is last night was actually one of the closest games we've had in the playoffs era in terms of final score. The games generally are not remotely close.

Everyone remembers the couple OT games but I think there have been 30 playoff games and only 10 were a closer final score than this.
