2024-25 NBA Season

Intact champs vs retooled contender looking for chemistry and shooting poorly-
But giving up 43 Q1 points unacceptable.

Bridges AWOL since joining the Knicks.
Surprised that Dadiet played 5" in 1st half.
Make OG earn that big contract -put him on Tatum.

Hart said this week that he's not sure of his role and suggested he should join backups -not a good sign.
Only 1st game, but appears Thibs has a challenge to pull these New Look Knicks together.

Hated trading Divencenzo. Hate it more watching tonight. Night and day in intensity compared to the second half of last season.

I liked OG a lot in Toronto, but in the last few years he constantly whined behind the scenes about his offensive usage and his lack of one on one plays -- don't think his usage will be any better in New York (nor should it be).

Perhaps now that he got his payday and is one a 50ish win level team it won't be an issue.

Well Knicks, that effort out of the gate about equaled my worst fears.
I will remain calm -only the first game.
I will remain calm...

My pre-season predictions.

All NBA 1st Team: Luka, SGA, Giannis, Wemby, Jokic
Tatum started his revenge tour tonight on fire. Going to have to make some space for him on that team. The man's got to have a chip on his shoulder coming off the Olympics even if he doesn't show it.

And they won't send him to the G. No way LBJ allows that.
I have to believe they'll get the whole Bronny/Lebron on the same floor in an NBA game that counts thing out of the way tonight (unless they want to intentionally keep that story going for some reason).

After that, how they handle Bronny will be real interesting. I do think he will go to the G league because the kid needs minutes and experience he won't get at the NBA level, but it could be a problem if he struggles in the G-league. He's going to have a target on his back and going to get everyone's A game. A lot of players hungry to get to the NBA.

Lebron is also image conscious. I doubt he's oblivious to the fact it's not a good look if he were to veto a trip to the G league for Bronny.

Opening night and I'm already sick of the Lakers love and how many prime time games they will be on.

I deleted my reply to MikeSU on this topic as I saw you stated it more succinctly. They are really bad.

Poole and Kuzma seem to feed off each other, but not in a good way, but in terms of doing dumb things. It's like 2+2=-1

What confuses me is they traded Avdija to Portland, but then apparently passed up some positive assets (even if not that large) for Kuzma.

Poole I don't think is tradeable unless you take a bad contract back as the only return.

Maybe they want him to help the tank for a little bit? He's got 3 years left, plenty of time to deal him.

No comment on the Knick game tonight

The good thing for them is they don't really need to tank. They are just awful.
That pick is top 10 protected this year and top 8 the next, then it becomes 2 2nds. I have a feeling they will be sending two seconds
Yeah, I don't really see any reasonable path for them to even get to 20 wins this season. They would need something completely out of nowhere to happen like Jordan Poole turning into an all-star or one of their rookies being an instant sensation.

They don't even have any particularly exciting young talent (and they had the #2 overall pick this year so that's saying something).

What's worse is the projected #1 overall pick that everyone is tanking for isn't even a good theoretical fit with the guy they took at #2 this year. This situation is just so depressing.

...I'm going to see them play the Cavs on Saturday; can't wait!

As much as Kuzma being your #1 or #2 option is horrific, the guys playing behind him are worse so I think trading him would somehow help the tank.

Yeah, I think some GM that has a warm seat and wants to make like a 7 seed would maybe overpay for him.

Big issue is since 20-21:
43 games played
48
67
50
50

He just needs to be available. He got his bag.

The Bron/Bronny stuff is going is going to drive me mad.

Sweet photo with KG and KGJr. But both of those guys deserved to be in MLB, obviously.

How long is this charade going to go on for? If you are good enough to have a team sign a family member like Dame did his cousin, then just have them sign and sit at the end of the bunch (like his cousin) and stop propping up media content like he's earned it.

Kenny Smith embarrassed himself last night comparing Bronny to Collier.

Barkley of course correctly pointed out he should be in G league. There’s no world he’s an nba player now. Give him 2-3 years in g league and we’ll see.

I do think Kuzma could help a team, assuming he acknowledges that he's going to play a much lesser role for a good team than what he's doing for the Wizards. Good size/length and pretty versatile skillset. But he's been rotting away in Washington for awhile now.

Even the G-League feels a bit much considering how bad he was in college but he's certainly more of a G-League player than an NBA player right now.

Yeah.

He wasn't all-LA, but made McDonalds.
Barely did anything in college but made the combine.
And now this.

They are already starting it with Bryce as well. Just absolute insanity.

I had kind of forgotten this but Kuzma basically turned down a deadline deal to Dallas in February because he didn’t think they were a true contender.

You always wonder how it’ll work when a guy goes from a terrible team to a good one, especially when it’s being a key scoring guy for the bad team to more of a role player on the good one. You can definitely envision him helping a good team as more of a third wing who can play 3 or 4, knock down some shots and help the second unit score. But you can also kinda see it going the other way where he still wants to be a focal point

Appreciate these takes because I wouldn't consider any of you "haters". There obviously has been a lot of hate coming from true James haters but when there are rational people making comments like above, it just shows how ridiculous some of this has been.
