2024-25 NBA Season

Appreciate these takes because I wouldn't consider any of you "haters". There obviously has been a lot of hate coming from true James haters but when there are rational people making comments like above, it just shows how ridiculous some of this has been.
Just compare LBJ's kids to MJ's kids. Even though LBJ's kids might have more talent, MJ never pushed an agenda regarding his kids. It wasn't like they were forced on UNC or the Bulls. The average fan might never have heard of MJ's kids.

Seems like certain people want LBJ's kids to be the next big thing.

Yeah It's not really related to Lebron necessarily.

I GET why the Lakers are doing it.
I GET why Lebron is thrilled about

What I refuse to admit is that its some historical moment equal to the Griffeys. He doesn't deserve to be in the league yet or maybe ever. It's manufactured and phony.

Kenny Smith embarrassed himself last night comparing Bronny to Collier.

Barkley of course correctly pointed out he should be in G league. There’s no world he’s an nba player now. Give him 2-3 years in g league and we’ll see.
Kenny sucking up to LBJ for his next gig when Inside moves on. He also had him as the second best player in the game which is crazy.

It's a really weird situation for me. Half of me feels bad for Bronny because the pressure being put on him really can't be easy and he has so many doubters at this point that it would be really awesome for him to prove us all wrong.

At the same time though, I can't help but roll my eyes at the commentators talking about how special a moment it was to see him check into the game and whatnot when we all know the only reason he's checking into the game is because his dad happens to be both a great player still and more importantly, a uniquely powerful player in terms of leverage. As much as I'd like to see Bronny turn into an NBA caliber player worthy of those minutes, the simple fact is that he was terrible in college and terrible in the preseason; the fact that he got minutes over actual NBA caliber guys is kind of a shame to me rather than something to celebrate.

FWIW, as a Bucks fan, the Thanasis stuff drives me crazy too, but at least in his case, he was drafted before Giannis was a household name based on his own merits as a G-League player. That was a long time ago now though and Thanasis has proven to be a fringe NBA caliber player at best.

Yeah, that's why I think Dame's cousin, Keljin Blevins, is a better comparison.

Really awesome trend in the NBA with teams going to local/over the air TV that you can watch for free with an antenna in local markets. Jazz and Mavericks offer this and now the Blazers, who are even giving their fans free antennas. It’s nice to see this after continually being forced to subscribe to new streaming services to watch sports.

Meanwhile if I want to legally watch the Wizards, it costs more than NBA League Pass.

I’m bullish on Edey and he had a great preseason, but he’s going to have to learn to play without fouling. This isn’t Purdue where he got the benefit of every call.

I watched the 1st half of Memphis vs Utah. Edey had 2 pts, 2 rebounds, 3 fouls in 7 minutes. John Collins baited him bad. I see Edey finished with 5 pts, 5 rebounds and fouled out in 14 minutes.

Not exactly what Memphis was looking for with Jackson out.

Could be something, could just be a frustrated employee shooting off exaggerating things, could be a mix of both. But I'm sure its not what the team wanted to deal with.

Even if there is something there (which there may not be), league has set the precedent at a second round pick for tampering.

I have yet to comment and reflect on the end of the Clipper / Kawhi championship window. It's been 5 years since he left the Raptors.

1. Kawhi chose the situation that he felt was best for him. His hometown area. His right

2. Clippers had no choice but to do the Paul George trade at that ime, which was a significant overpayment as OKC had incredible leverage. That was the cost of getting Kawhi so they had to do it.

3. The big issue that I maintained from the beginning was that Kawhi's trust issues with management (and it may be warranted from San Antonio), forced the Clipper's hand to do the PG trade immediately which resulted in some asset loss as OKC held so much leverage. This asset loss hamstrung their ability to maneuver in subsequent years. Some patience by Kawhi in allowing the Clippers to take a bit more time to make their moves in the summer of 2019 could have made the difference longer term.

4. I still believe that Kawhi would have had more chance at winning a title in 2020 if he stayed with the Raptors. Beyond 2020, its totally debatable as 3 of the core Raptors in 2020 (Lowry, Ibaka, Gasol) got very old, very quick, and moves would have needed to have been done around the maturing core of Siakam, OG, FVV, Powell. The 2019/2020 Raptors went 53-19 and were incredibly balanced 1-7, the second best record in the league. That being said who knows with that Covid playoffs.

5. One day Kawhi will have his jersey retired by the Raptors as he should. And if Wendel Clark can have a statue on Maple Leaf Square, then Kawhi will certainly deserve one too although for vastly different reasons.

Dude is a sociopath

Lakers ramping up for back to back in season tournament championships.

Yeah, horrendous. Like the Christiano Ronaldo abomination a couple of years ago. Seriously, if i were being honored with a statue, i'd have to have final approval on the thing. Didn't Wade say, "Who's that guy?" Crushing blow to the sculptor, but jeeebus... I did read that the event photographer says it looks better in person than in photographs, but...

In the span of about 6 minutes tonight against the Raptors, Westbrook committed a needless flagrant, fouled a 3 point shooter with 0.2 seconds left on the shot clock, and airballed a 10 foot shot.

Denver could be in a lot of trouble this year -- that is my default to any good team that loses to the Raps. 0-3 to start the year. Westbrook old and making mistakes. And Jamal Murray has clearly peaked before this year and is just not what he was.

Don't look for highlights of Taylor Hendricks injury.

I can't do that stuff either, not even curious.
I’ll occasionally look, but considering I started hooping again last night after a couple months off, nope…..

What's crazy is, I was less physically sick snapping my humerus bone clear in half and driving myself to the ER than I was watching Sid Vicious breaks his leg off the top rope and that Louisville kid, after the Louisville guy I was done.
