2024-25 Recruiting

FWIW -

The plan is for Bowman to come to Syracuse and focus strictly on football during his freshman year. While the door may not be wide open for him to also play lacrosse after that should he so desire, it is not completely shut either.

"It's been open to me," Bowman said. "I've been reached out by a couple lacrosse guys. My coach from last year was a captain at Syracuse. He reached out to me Tuesday to see if I wanted to get in touch with the Syracuse lacrosse coaches because they were interested. But I told them that my freshman year I'm really going to focus on football. I think spring ball would be really hard to miss. I think it would put me at a huge disadvantage not playing spring ball. So I'm sticking with football my freshman year, then maybe reevaluate my sophomore year but I'm not 100% sure.

"Putting on weight is always a challenge. There are other players doing both at Notre Dame and Maryland. Those guys are safeties and wide receivers. Being a tight end I'd have to put on a lot of weight. Maybe 20 or 30 pounds. I would lose a lot of my mobility so I will have to reevaluate my sophomore year."

Just switch from a speed dodge to a bull dodge young man! You will be fine! Ah well. He does have a point about the speedier positions having an easier time playing both. Imaging Casey Rogers going back to lacrosse. Maybe things change by his sophomore year.

Smart kid, makes a lot of sense to try what he is planning. Still think the pull will be to much but I get it.

Will Yeatman was 6-6, 260 when he played for Maryland. Ian Dingman was 6-4 260 when he played for Navy. The important caveat of course is both played attack. If he (and the coaches) wanted to make a position change, it's totally doable. That said, he would have to want to do it. Hopefully it happens.

There are some really big middies out there too. Dobson, Schultz, Handley, and even O'Neill (who has run out of the box from time to time) are big, mobile fellas. Not sure why Bowman couldnt develop the same way down the road if he comes back to lacrosse?

Doshna and Rayfield both mentioned in this rundown. Both sound like very good offensive players who can score in a variety of ways. Rayfield on the smaller side at 5'10 155, but gets praised for his defense by Xanders. Doshna a little bigger at 6'0 185. I have to imagine both players are high on SU's priority list. Also mentioned is Adam Ponting, a Canadian (Ontario) from Lawrenceville. He's got really good size at 6'3 180.

Doshna took all of marcellus faceoffs the last couple seasons I believe. This year and most of last focused more of attack/middle. Also wrestles. Tough gritty kid and def has grown size wise the last year. Will be interesting where he ends up.

Love that the Upstate jersey is Syracuse knock off. Stay home, boys! Save your parents some gas money.

My son played with four of the '27s on a travel team a couple years ago. Definitely a lot of very good players missing from this list. But you have to try out to make it and I know a lot that didn't.

You have to PAY to try out to make it, right?

If you already play for a decent club program, and you have plenty of exposure and offers, it would seem to be a waste of money.

I was noticing a 2025 recruit for Cornell up at the top of the Philly.com scoing list, that being Rowyn Nurry, who scored 126 points. Salesianum was 17-2 on the season. I watched Salesianum a few times on youtube this year and Nurry looked pretty good. Nurry appears to be doing a PG year at Loomis Chaffee this coming year. He is also on the 42 man training roster for the U-20 team.

Not an original point here, but Kemp had an epic meltdown last offseason when Hausmann flipped from Brown to UVA (and gloated when an SU commit flipped to Brown a few years ago). Now the shoe is on the other foot and he couldn’t be happier. Give me a break.

Flipped him from where?

my understanding is the situations are different...hausmann was a genuine poach by tiffany while evans decommitted from uva likely for playing time reasons and decided to go to his dad's alma mater...

nonetheless complaining about this stuff is weak and kemp is a dweeb

haven't seen where evans discussed any of his reasons. getting a verbal commit a few weeks after 1st speaking with somebody doesn't come with a lifetime contract. flipping and poaching are part of the deal, as they should be. lock 'em in, or don't.
