2024-25 Recruiting

Never mind!

Small thing really, but why in the hell do they never say where these kids flip from in these posts!! Basic stuff people! Did we take Ty Xanders for granted?
(He was committed to UVA)

Speak of the devil...

Never mind!

Tough break for UVA. Only a few months from signing day as well which makes a decommit this late sting even more. We've certainly had it happen to us, not much you can do but try and fill the spot if someone matches up.

it'll be 2 seasons from now, so a different roster, but wayer will be gone. weird thing is they also had(have) hopper coming in the same class. maybe one would've been moved to close-d.

anyway, that's 2 in a week or 2. wouldn't be surprised if they go after a flip themselves, though not necessarily lsm.

Ya I would assume with Hopper one was probably getting moved to close. Duke may have sold him on being the main LSM, offered more NIL or schollie money or maybe some combo of all 3. Tough to know the full rationale with these late flips. I wouldn't be surprised if UVA looked to flip someone but with the signing day not to far off they may just pocket the schollie money and use it in 26 or the portal next year.

Bumped him up to a 4 star

Lucas Bartlow, D, Chenango Forks (N.Y.), Sweetlax | Syracuse
Bartlow is the goalie version of an every-down running back in the NFL — there’s nothing he can’t do. He plays with explosiveness to his game that shows both in between the pipes and in his decision making when an opportunity to make a play around his crease is available. He’s constantly active, talking, and engaged in every detail of the play. When the shot is released, he attacks it with confidence and is eager to get the ball up and out.

The annual shuffling names around for attention article is here.
ha! a little harsh, as it says it's now an institution in the sport.
tough to tell what they're going for with the title of power 100 freshmen. unless colsey is a miracle patient, they must know he's out and he snags a top 20. maybe just a tilt to not leave injured guys off they've had in the mix if someone looks cares in 5 years?

duenkel keeps an 11 even tho he hasn't played in over a year. and now 2nd lars podcast, grouped he and colsey together as significant injuries and possible redshirts.

note to self: play nd football, get #1 ranking.

I don't think their recruiting rankings relate just to impact freshman performance, and for that matter Colsey might have a big red-shirt freshman year, anyhow.

Duenkel's rating does seem a little curious.

It is interesting that Hausmann moved up to #8. I did think he looked good in the All-star games over the summer.

You can call me a Terp homer if you like, but I think John Draley is a 5-star recruit.

Watching the All-star games this summer:
I was fairly impressed with IL's #26 Lucca DiBartolomeo (LSM, PSU) and the thought he looked like a 5-star. He really had a good Nike All-star game. Also, #30 Connor Gately (A, Yale). I thought Gately looked like a sure 5-star. IL's evaluator gave Gately a 90 for the NB game, and Gately looked even better at the Nike game.

I don't like to make a lot of judgments based on All-star games, but sometimes you see things you think are really good.

The IL guys seem to be playing "Cry Wolf", ranking two UNC midfielders so high: #10 Szewczyk and #13 Harshberger. We'll see.

With the UVa attackmen dropping and also Pokorny dropping out of the top 10 to #12, it seems like a weak class for attackmen.

you mean down to 8 from 6, even with 2 of his now teammates dropping down? i don't know if there was an interim ranking from rising junior year, but this is what it looked like then (top 50) and to me there was substantial shuffling for a lot of guys. draley has moved up:

Xanders did the initial list, so not surprised there was some shuffling since he left. I thought they put out a new Power 100 after he left (before the final ranking) but I can't seem to find it. I could be imagining it.

Comparing last year's rankings to this year's rankings, while there is some shifting amongst the five-stars, Johnny Gardiner and Aiden McDonald are the only players to drop from 5-star to 4-star, and Jimmy Kenny is the only player to jump up to a 5-star.

This small amount of change seems a little unlikely given
a) the probable inaccuracies in last year's recruit rankings
b) the changing abilities of the players concerned
It makes the people doing these rankings seem a bit "stiff", that is, unwilling to make changes.

kershis (duke) , van bastelaar (penn), mccleary (hop), marshall (cornell), bolognino (cuse) and cook (loyola) should all be higher. i have spoken
How much higher approximately?
