2024-25 Recruiting

But Inside Lacrosse is something worth discussing.

Inside Lacrosse's recruit rankings are used by many to evaluate recruits and recruiting. Thus it seems worthwhile to try to evaluate Inside Lacrosse's recruit rankings. This is especially true with IL's main guy, Ty Xanders, moving on.
Most of us don't have the time or desire to follow a huge number of recruits. I mostly only have time to watch Terp recruits. Although, I do pick up a notion on a number of other recruits by watching games for Terp recruits on youtube, that have a number of other top recruits in them.

Honorable Mention -
A/M Payton Anderson - 5 goals

Interesting that it looks like out of the top 20 recruits listed by IL, only two made the top 20 for Freshmen (Ben McCarthy of Duke and Graham Stevens of Harvard).

Obviously a lot of factors go into this (injury for the UVA guys, redshirts for players like Spencer Ford, football for Matt Jeffery, but good reminder how hard it is to make an impact as a freshman.

100%, hard to see extended time at this level, the current JR class were really outliers and even then only Leo, Finn and Joey were starters from Day 1.

Two Section 3 guys in the top 10.

#7 Logan Banek, FO, Siena (New Hartford)

“Quick hands might be underselling Banek’s start to his college career, but it's ability to get his own clamp wins that stands out with only Vermont’s Henry Dodge picking up more groundballs per game than his 9.50. His 64.8% face-off percentage ranks fifth nationally.”

#4 Owen Salanger, G, UMass (Liverpool)

“The Minutemen have won seven straight and Salanger is Top 10 in DI in save percentage following their in-state midweek win against the upset hungry River Hawks. The lefty netminder already has three games saving north of 65%.”

Oh wow, I went to high school with Logan's dad. And, he is athletic director at New Hartford, where my kids went to school. I didn't know his son played lacrosse.

Amazing how some highly touted players in HS are hit or miss at the college level...
