2024 Schedule...

I think with the transfers that Syracuse is there, and playing a competitive schedule seems reasonable.

If you think of Cornell (8) and Army (14) taking the place of UNC (15) and Duke (2) - the ACC teams SU played twice last year, it's pretty reasonable. The other thing to consider is the ACC tournament, not sure how to factor that into the schedule difficulty since there is a chance they don't make it.

RPI of OOC 2023:
Albany (37)
Duke (2)
Hofstra (58)
Holy Cross (73)
Hobart (52)
Hopkins (4)
Maryland (7)
UNC (15)
Princeton (17)
St Bonnies (67)
Vermont (28)

RPI of Rumored OCC 2024
Army (14)
BU (20)
Cornell (8)
Hobart (52)
Hopkins (4)
Maryland (7)
Manhattan (45)
Princeton (17)
Vermont (28)

Albany? (37)
Navy? (44)

I think the big thing is getting rid of St Bonnies and Holy Cross which dragged the RPI down. That doesn't look like it will be the case this year unless maybe Hobart or Manhattan completely fall off a cliff. Overall though they look like pretty similar schedules when it comes to difficulty.

Army is kind of the wild card to me, they might be a lot better than their RPI given they don't always play the toughest schedule. Maryland I think will be better than 7 but I could see Cornell, Princeton and Vermont go down a couple places.

I don't necessarily disagree but a schedule with ND, UVA, UNC, Duke, Hop, Army, Princeton, and Cornell is what I would call pretty competitive with 7 of those 8 pretty much a lock for the top 10. Not sure SU needs to play every pre-season top 10 team

Hard to see Army not being a top 10 team, they essentially return everyone from a pretty good squad, though replacing that Goalie will not be easy. I don't have an issue playing Maryland but I also would like to see some balance with the ACC clearly being loaded again with Duke, ND and UVA probably all in the top 4/5 plus Hop and Army and Cornell all being in the top 10 as well, Maryland seems like a bit of overkill.

I guess if I were doing a preseason top 10, neither Princeton nor UNC would be in my top 10. Princeton has lost a lot, and UNC wasn't playing very well toward the end of the season. UNC could be improved with the Duffy-Pietramala combination at attack, but that is not enough to get them into the top 10.

Sorry I meant six of the 8, I don't expect UNC or Princeton to be in the top 15 to start less top 10.

I would put UNC top 15 based simply on the potential with the talent on the roster. Mcgovern is back (at least I think someone said that) and if Dom Petro and Duffy are even 75% as advertised then the offense should get a big boost. Think Matan has the potential to make a sophmore year jump as well. Defense was good last season too and returns main cover guy Barton. However, there may be an increase in unnecessary sliding on that end of the field ;)

UNC needing a freshman and a redshirt freshman to lead the offense and reverse their fortunes is not going to go well for them if that's the plan

they desperately lack punch at the midfield...never recovered from losing cook, perry, and anderson in the same year

LOL UNC certainly has potential as you noted. McGovern, Petro, Duffy, Matan, the goalies back plus that top frosh FOGO.

Navy is off the schedule this coming season. We will play Maryland Feb 17th at home. I’m trying to find out who is being replaced for Navy. I was told that there will be a game somewhere in Maryland around the same time frame.

HuhApparently we have replaced Navy with Delaware on March 16th in Maryland. Field is TBD.
Tom Cruise What GIF

I was told the out of conference opponents were -

Cornell
Princeton
Army
Navy
Vermont
Boston
Hobart
Albany
Hopkins

No particular order.
So if Delaware is replacing Navy on this list, who is Maryland replacing?

Thanks. So if I have this right, they are due to play Hopkins in Charlotte, Delaware in Maryland and UNC in DC (again)? That seems … strange?

Delaware should be good. I kind of wrote them off since they lost Kurtz and Grant but they have a lot of talent left over. Step up from Navy on paper. That’s too bad about Princeton, I think they’ll be pretty good. Tigers haven’t been to the Dome in a long long time.

Any info about the rumored scrimmage in October? Really hope it will be open to the public.

UNC game will not be in Maryland. Away game for us. I’m with you on the Princeton game. They have some DMV players I would have liked to see play.

The scrimmages will be open but I’m not sure where they will be played.

Two guesses: (1) Increases the recruiting footprint, and (2) Lessens the concerns about scheduling around potential March basketball games.

Exactly. Most of our games are home in Feb.

A couple of possibilities - Good Counsel HS in Olney (where you folks played UNC) or the Maryland SoccerPlex in Montgomery County.

Late add: IIRC UVA has had some Fall Ball scrimmages at the SoccerPlex.
