2025-26 Coaching Carousel

Oh they are going to be brutal next year. That roster is going to get demolished. We better not cancel that game with a 9th ACC game coming, cancel Toledo instead.
They probably have a horrible football budget. Genuinely curious who they'll hire.

I could see them hiring current Penn State interim coach Terry Smith. His players love him.
I read somewhere that Terry might be a candidate for the full time job. I'm not sure how reliable or serious it was, because I don't see that being the big splash that would make Penn St fans happy.

He would have been a good fit at UCLA... oh, wait.
Speaking of UCLA, sounds like there is a lot of smoke for Chesney going there. I think Neuheisel mentioned it and he is obviously really close to the program

There is some speculation Ped State maybe interested in Chesney
Weird how that guy ended up as the hot coach. Makes u wonder some of us who actually follow HC football knew something…

The cynic in me suggests 2 8-9 win seasons w Bob at Syracuse meant we were losing him so this terrible season was a good thing for coaching retention

The Lane Train about to pull into the Baton Rouge station come late Saturday morning.

UF and their AD are now without pants. They almost have to angle toward Green Wave's Jon Sumrall, but he might be more inclined to take gig at Auburn. Lincoln Riley is, at best, a Hail Mary longshot. Drink is signing an extension at Mizzou.

As Yogi said, it is getting late early in Gainesville. Jedd Fisch would accept. He is a Gator and was a GA at UF under Spurrier, and was an OC for the proximate Jacksonville Jaguars. But he is an wholly uninspiring choice and the AD will be on thin ice, even with a hoops title in his back pocket.

Bad fit
UCLA football has maybe half the active fans it had in the 1970s. And UCLA simply no longer has much clout even in Southern CA recruiting. A guy like Chesney with ties only in ET would be risking a great deal to take that job. Another year at JMU like this one and Chesney would be on the short list of half or more of ACC openings as well as schools like Northwestern and Purdue and Vandy.

Only if Clark Lea leaves which I don’t see happening.
