Semi-strong(?) rumor posted on our board that James Franklin has signed with VPI and they're not announcing it yet so he can go out and recruit. The first part makes sense even if the second part doesn't.
Franklin was supposed to be the coach-in-waiting at MD for when Ralph Friedgen was to leave. He surprised them by going to Vanderbilt instead. I wonder if anyone in College Spark still has hurt feelings about that.If I am Maryland I make the move for Franklin. Locksley is 2-13 in conference the last 2 years and about to be 2-15 going into a winnable game vs Michigan State.
I don't doubt that Franklin has a deal in place with VA Tech, but he has no reason to sign on before all the chips fall. If he did then it would be announced.
Heck FSU might even want him. His deal with Penn State could allow for a back loaded contract to help offset the costs of Norvell.

It's easier to win at Virginia Tech than at Maryland. If I am Maryland I make the move for Franklin. Locksley is 2-13 in conference the last 2 years and about to be 2-15 going into a winnable game vs Michigan State.

I think Riley will be an OC in the NFL if he left or was fired at USCWhere will Riley go? He's an offense guy who cares less about the defense. He's had two great places to prove himself but is known for not having a defense. Who would want that if they really are sincere about pursuing championships?
Riley is an offensive genius but really needs a defensive genius to help him.
That is kind of what I am thinking. He's young, been an HC at two elite schools, he won't take a lesser job nor can he quit coaching.I think Riley will be an OC in the NFL if he left or was fired at USC
I have to think a guy like Riley would want a break from the college game as well. He would probably be a great fit for the Houston Texans, Texas guy as well. Good defensive head coach as well who isn't going anywhere anytime soon. That is kind of what I am thinking. An OC in the pros would fit his skills. If he can swallow his pride, an OC at an elite college would make use of his skills, too. I just don't see him as a college OC anymore.
