2025-26 Coaching Carousel

Dude - walk away. None of this "my heart was in Oxford" crap. It wasn't. You made your decision. Own it.
Exactly. His "heart" was in Oxford until LSU made a better offer. Kiffin should be honest: "Oxford is cool but I want money and a chance to win it all every season. I don't want to have to work so hard. Money talks baloney walks. I am taking every coach, player and recruit with me, losers!"

Is most of the country not affiliated with another team going to be rooting for Ole Miss in the CFPs? (And rooting against LSU in the future?)

It's fine. Thank you for the pointing out my error. When I hit "post" I thought it didn't look right but didn't realize my error. Your post is now forever preserved in my replies. :)

Wow, they called him untouchable a few years ago.

Maybe that was the Will Levis effect.
There have been four different QB since Levis left and most of them were not good.

LSU plays at Ole Miss next year. That is going to be the most viscerally angry crowd since Lebron's first visit back to Cleveland when he was on the Heat.

Honorable mention for the mustard bowl when USC with Kiffin came back to Neyland Stadium.

You know when Lane is throwing around terms like “praying on it” and tweeting things with “#GodsPlan”, you know the grift is working overtime.

Besides the known awfulness of Lane and the rumored awfulness of Lane, isn’t going all in on Lane seem like a Brian Kelly redux versus getting a Kirby Smart?

Also, isn’t this all after the governor of the state was basically preaching fiscal restraint as it pertained to the head coaching gig since he was so involved with this mess?

This ends one of two ways, imo:
1 - Lane wins enough while DeBoer tanks at Bama and Lane does this whole song and dance again but jumps to Bama in the middle of the night

2 - he flames out hard and basically gets a Jimbo-level buyout.

Given the horrific way that Kiffin left Ole Miss, and the equally terrible way LSU handled the Brian Kelly firing, can we all agree that the good ol’ “who will want to coach here if we treat Paul/Greg/Scott/Dino/Fran that way?” is a ridiculous argument?

Coaches clearly don’t care at all how insane a school is, or how they treated the guy they canned that opened up a job. All a HC coach cares about is advancement and money. Period. Literally nothing else.

Without question. These guys

1) have egos that convince them they can do it even if the last guy couldn’t (and I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing),

2) now care more not just about their own salary, but assistant coaches salary and specialized staff salary,

3) NIL commitment,

4) and who the GM is (in fact, I’d be shocked if the GM role basically didn’t started being a locked pairing when getting a new HC).

Note. I don’t want Fran fired by any means, but there would be guys coming out of the wood work that believe they could get us into the cfb playoffs with the right financial support, reality be damned. Also, I want a guy that believes that.

Back to the point of this thread: Lane Kiffin sucks.

NIL war chest as well, but I assume you included that when you mentioned money. Both for coaches and players.
