Class of 2026 2025-26 Portal

Lookout for this one. Elite defender and I mean very elite. Just because they say they are looking for an offensive center doesn’t mean they are not looking for a center they think they can develop offensively.

also why it's good to keep some rainy day money which I assume we did for these late entries,

It's also not a huge team. It's a long backcourt.

We have no bulk inside, so getting bullied, pushed around and outrebounded still looks like a very strong possibility.
Goodrick is 6’10 230. They’re going to start 6’5 6’5 6’5 6’9 and likely 6’11+. Not sure I understand saying “not a huge team team” when their average starting height is like 6 foot 7

That's really really tall for a starting lineup even at the power conference level. And some of these guys don't have your average wingspan.

I don’t know about anyone else but I’ve had my fill of portal season in just a couple weeks of it. Let’s get the roster finalized so we can move on… in all seriousness wnd practicality want the best we can get so if that means patience to do so then so be it.
We have a definite different opinion on the transfer portal. I can see why it can be trying to you or anyone but to me this year, I have enjoyed the almost daily announcement of players transferring this week to Syracuse.

I’m glad that the announcements have been spread instead of one big announcement that we have several new players this portal period.

Agreed. It's the most fun I've had on the board since Fran season 1.

We’ll have to how to see how next season turns out. Might be a team that can scratch the bubble. One of the reasons Blair was hired is because he’s a good fundraiser. He needs to seek more avenues to persuade donors. Until then, we’ll have to manage with our limited resources.

And please spare me the we have plenty of money response. We don’t. We need more or we’d be pursuing better centers and point guards.

Says the guy quoting a parody tweet to validate your assertion? Sorry but pessimism doesn’t equate to being accurate ( nor does the opposite). There were two players two weeks ago. It’s a process. A quick one but still a process.

Agree with everything here. Year one is going to be building a team that can compete and tries to continue to retain players so Syracuse does not have to fill 11 spots next year. Programs like Syracuse atm have to go through this rebuild phase.

It’s a rebuild and make the tournament. Not a rebuild and have only a winning team. I can’t get over how naive people are to realize that we will have more talent than other P5 teams that made the tourney last year. Everyone gets caught up comparing our roster building to the top 10-15 teams money wise instead of casting a wider lens. Clemson had 24 wins last year with a team that people here would argue to struggle to make the ACCT if it was Syracuse with that roster.

Before we start asserting this year won’t get it done start looking at the programs 20-40 and what they are putting together each year. That will paint a better picture for everyone who is all doom and gloom because we aren’t as flashy in the portal.

Go be a fan of Louisville or Kentucky. Of course you can acquire more resources, Syracuse needs to do that. But I don't think that is the main reason why Syracuse can't get better fits at Center and Point Guard. They aren't just going down a rankings sheet with their targets.

Flashy ≠ good. Take Kentucky, USC, Carolina, and many others for example. It’ll always be talent and fit over anything else.

Please post some links to these negative articles that you are reading.
Seems like you're making stuff up if you don't post any of these articles.
I wasn't saying this as a negative or that there was a negative tweet. I said they aren't going to go into the season expecting anything from him which they shouldn't. You have no idea how he'll adapt or translate. It would be I'll prepared of them to expect this kid to be an instant 20 minutes a game. They'll build a solid rotation of players and if he can work his way in that's gravy on top. That isn't negative that's just to be expected of any player coming over from a foreign country especially such a young one

Regardless how we do with the rest of the portal, next year is going to be massive for Gerry. If he can get us back to the ncaa tourney in year 1, I would think more and more people will jump in and support NIL efforts. We need momentum. I just hope when all is done and said that we get the guys in the portal that will help Gerry get off to the start he (and we) desperately need.

which is smart. You still bet on yourself and your staff but you have to balance out how much risk you take too and hedge.

Did we not sign someone we were supposed to? Is that why we are having the daily Cuseguy freak out?
He would rather Gerry just go on a spending spree to buy players that don't fit what's he wants to do. Underperform, lose donor support immediately. Instead of doing what he is trying to do and that is building the best foundation of a program he can this season, show successful maximization of talent of the players he has, and build momentum to continuously upgrade the player type he wants for this program because at that point you gain credibility of what you are building and your getting more support.

I think people are losing it a bit. The quality of player brought in so far for us is very similar to what Iowa State brought in. Too much focus on name brands.

Everyone looks at the biggest spenders and the names are doing. Pitt for instance added names we know but they aren’t building a winning team with those names it’s just names people know from the P5.

There is talent everywhere 1-400 in the portal it’s about landing the right ones based on evaluation skills and building a roster not a fantasy sports roster. That kid that decided to stay closer to home and go to UNM might be a conference player of the year and top
30 in the portal next year and was ranked in the 300s I think this cycle.
