We could overpay for someone like we did last year with Nait George. That one happened early as soon as the portal opened. There’s also
guys still entering. I don’t think a lot of people have the stomach for this. It’s similar to professional sports free agency.

George was a big disappointment. I think we expected more than who and what he was as a player. He kind of epitomizes the silliness of the portal. As a fan base, we're happy to have him leave but there are other teams now looking at him who are excited about the prospect of landing him.

But all things are relative. The blue bloods, and many in the BiG and SEC can and will out spend us for the guys they want.

Yup. I don't think we can overstate the importance of winning this coming season. By winning I mean being highly competitive in the ACC, making the NCAAT, and have the coaching staff and roster to have a legit chance to beat anyone on a given night. That would be the start of a return to brand.

Not sure that matters. Yes not many have signed anywhere but the feeling has been we’re still priced out or not an attractive option to the top guys. We’ll see how it shakes out.

Paciencia. Patience. I don’t think anyone has a clue what the coaches have in mind players wise. I’m a little more concerned no news from Folefac or Moesch. Of course that may be strategy as well. So u guess we don’t know anything. Which is perfect but very frustrating.

Just saying if we spend 5 mil across Doty, MMM, and Sadiq plus 3 other players with similar qualities we’re gonna be alot happier. Hell I’ll be happy with 3 more euro guys that no one has ever heard of.

Hah how is this news that Texas is spending tons on NIL. Texas is at the top of the mountain for football NIL and was too 15 for hoops last year.

It’s as good thing they made a tourney run to the sweet 16 cuz a play in game for how much they spent on their roster would be a bust. .

It’s not news, just impressed with their roster construction. Not all with $$ are adept at that.

So how much does this guy get? Maybe $2m? $2.5m? $3m? $3.5m? In my opinion if we are truly at ~$12m+ we could readily afford that and still build out a strong roster. We can't buy 5 if these guys like Duke but depending on your roster building philosophy we can buy some high end talent.

What part of the market do you think we can get? We are not tied to anyone that excites me

I still think we can put together a really nice roster even if it isn’t the top 30 guys in the portal. If we can still manage top 150 that would be great for us IMO.

FWIW, of the 13 or 14 guys we're confirmed to have shown interest in so far, 3 are in the top 50 and 2 of those guys are already off the board. Hopefully we're moving in the shadows and just aren't publicly being connected to top 50 guys, but we'll see if we're really pursuing that part of the market.
