Someone in the other thread made a great point: this position group will make or break the season.

DA’METRIUS WEATHERSPOON
He started last year and should once again be in the lineup, either at left or right tackle. Reports say he’s more comfortable at right tackle, but we’ll see how it plays out. As a senior, the expectation is that he steps up as a leader and provides consistency. It’s his time to make it to the league.

AUSTIN COLLINS
The Louisville transfer is expected to start immediately at center. Landing him out of the portal was a huge win, and he should make an impact right away.

KAM PRINGLE

A redshirt freshman transfer from South Carolina, Pringle looks to be the future at left tackle. He has the size and skill to lock down that spot this season and for years to come.
BRYON WASHINGTON

Washington, a true freshman, is already making noise. He’s a brick wall in the run game and just as strong in pass protection. He has the potential to be a dominant starting guard from the jump.

TJ FERGUSON
The FSU transfer struggled last year, but this season could define his career. Slated to start at right guard, he has the talent to take a big step forward.

OTHER NAMES TO WATCH
Naquil Betrand and Zach Rice are both in the mix. Rice, a former five-star recruit, could challenge Ferguson for the starting spot if he lives up to his potential. That kind of motivation is only good for the line. Betrand, who has experience at Texas A&M and Alabama, is still young — just a redshirt sophomore — and brings plenty of upside for the future.

I know I missed some names tell me who u would like added to this list and talked about. Just wanted to open this conversation up

When Coach Williams was interviewed I do not remember him mentioning Rice in the top ten. I could have missed it.
I heard Witherspoon, Washington, Ferguson, Cruz, Miller, Beltran, collins, Pringle.
He also mentioned Stewart that they had to teach him how to snap which was strange since I thought he was a center in high school. Maybe just needed to refine his skills.

We have a legit 2 deep on the O'line. We have probably 12 legit O-linemen, those are first world problems. That's what we have to get used to, the same problems that Ohio State, Clemson, Alabama...have to deal with. We have depth at all positions. We have the talent to run the table.

Great to see and a testament to what Fran is building, when is the last time if ever we had this much depth in the trenches?

There are only 2 seniors in that group of 10 which bodes really well for next year as well. I can see Rice getting major snaps as well. Maybe the best OL as a group we have had in a long time on paper.

Three, Spoon, Ferguson, Collins, but agree, there is good class balance. And there is a lot of potential in the underclassmem.

Rice and Byron will be the most important pieces for this offensive line . I am not worried about Colins , Witherspoon, or Pringle they will be great this season.

Maybe a tad premature?

The OL looks the part. But before we "know" we are 12 deep - or even 5 deep - we have to see them perform as a functional unit on the field. OL play is complex and interdependent on how well the guy next to you is performing.I know, I know and water is wet.

I appreciate and understand the preseason enthusiasm. And, there is no denying the physical transformation of the OL since FB's arrival. I am cautiously optimistic that the OL might be very good. We absolutely need them to be to be competitive with the schedule we face. Fingers crossed.

I agree depth will be key for this position group and we have it. The long games like Clemson , Miami and Notre dame will test the depth of this team especially the OL.

I agree we need to see it on the field now.

I organized this as a two deep, which admittedly is not 100% clean because some of these guys play a couple positions.

But it is probably as good as we can get for a two deep as of right now…

PositionFirst TeamSecond Team
LTMackBertrand
LGFergusonWashington
CCollinsMiller
RGCruzRice
RTWeatherspoon Pringle

Total guess at LT where it sounds like Betrand and Mack are really close. I bet they both play.

Thinking Ferguson starts initially given his big edge in experience. But I think Washington starting is inevitable.

Washington, Hawn and Stewart sound like the frosh that are most likely to play, in that order. Hoping only Washington burns a year of eligibility in 2025.

I think that Pringle will start I see the tools groom him to be a B tier LT in the ACC in his freshmen year. Also k think rice will start he has a lot of motivation being labeled a bust by the UNC fan base .

Nice breakdown.

but I would swap Rice / Cruz. Otherwise, that looks right.
