2025 Preseason Camp Thread

We were very good last year in staying in makable 3rd downs. In ACC play we were tied for 2nd most 3rd down attempts, but at the same time were 3rd in conversion %. On top of that we went for the fourth most 4th downs, and had the 4th best conversion %.

IMO we will need to use the run game a lot more on 1st down if we are going to keep those makable 3rd and 4th downs. And even then we won't likely convert those as often given the players that we lost. That being said, with a stronger run game I do expect more shots down the field this year. Especially with the group of WRs that we have.
I was responding to run down peoples throats not we have to use the running game alot more.
Of course we will use the running game more but the passing game needs to be successful also or teams will just stack the box.

I think all of those guys are more replaceable than many think. Add to that improvement in scheming and game planning (hopefully), and I see no reason why the defense can’t be markedly better.
...and tackling. If we actually knock people down when we hit them, it will be a vast improvement.

Some of their anchors don't know the difference between a Shaudeur Sanders jersey and a Barry Sanders jersey ... their opinions are about as useful as hen $h1t on a pump handle.
Do you know the difference between "Shedeur" and "Shaudeur?" Are you "sheure"?

Pamela Maldonado is pretty sharp (h/t 23Zone). Should we discredit all ESPN personalities because of one (glaring) faux pas? Should we discredit your contribution because of your misspelling?

PamPam on ESPN calls us a three win team this year.

Take her word for what it is worth

They’re replacing 4 starters on the OL and their 1500yard rusher is in the NFL

Bishop had about 500 yards rushing last year but let’s see if he can be Sampson
Spot On! And they only have 7 scholarship WR's on the team, all with limited experience. They bombed in the portal with an overall rating of over 75 and second worse in the SEC with only 7 commits!

IF we can stop the Tennessee run game, it will be a close game. If Tennessee can run it down our throats, the game will get ugly. This is the key to the game.
IF Tennessee can stop the Syracuse run game it will be close... If Syracuse can run it down Tennessee's throats, and not get multiple equipment infractions called on them, it will get ugly

You mean the 5th round pick that had his jersey retired for winning 9 games? Spelling aside my point stands sorry doing the spelling on my phone off the top of my head doesn't meet your criteria. One faux pas ... ITS WHAT SHE IS PAID TO DO. Anyone who is a football fan can tell the difference, its one thing to nitpick the spelling of an obscure name its another to mistake an iconic hall of famer for a 5th round pick who won 9 games in the Big12. Bad enough he plays for the Browns and it was a freaking blue Lions jersey ... seriously?

Those are two very different faux pas. One is a misspelling of an uncommon name. The other is a lack of knowledge, by an alleged professional, about the history of very industry one is working in.

The faux pas, which btw, I did parenthetically label as "glaring," was committed by a different ESPN personality, and the point was that an error on her part should not affect the validity of Ms. Maldonado's opinion.

The jab at wfschrec was really just for the spelling...and not personal. Stop me in the street and ask me on the spot of the proper spelling and I may make the same mistake.

This was the point I was ultimately getting at: wfschrec's misspelling did not reduce the point (s)he was making any more than one ESPN personality's egregious (I'll upgrade it from a faux pas) mistake diminished another's opinion.

I hope that clarifies things a little...

It speaks to the quality of journalism as a whole at ESPN which is rather poor.

Yeah, I'm definitely not going to argue that point. If you are even close to a similar age, then we both remember much better days of ESPN programming. For me, SportsCenter was "must see" TV...end of the night and/or first thing in the morning.

They used to have the best commercials too ... now the network as a whole sucks.

Absolutely! Now it's just talk and talk and talk...often over each other. Unless it's a game I'm watching, I don't think I EVER have it on ESPN, and I haven't for Y-E-A-R-S.
