2025 Preseason Camp Thread

I honestly dont remember him talking about it much. i do wonder what the true balance or ideal balance is.
I don't think any details were ever given. I just remember reading that guys were cross trained so that in the case of injuries we could always have our 5 best available guys on the field.

My god, what a grab!

Gill, Cook, Ross-Simmons, Hatcher, Ross, Hornsby, Boobie, Thomas and the four Freshman WRs look really impressive physically.

Getting excited, should be an explosive group.
Remember when "the sports media" said oh my god Pena is transferring!!!. What will they do to replace that production.

Fran Brown is like hot damn I got 5 different slot receivers, I'm getting more lineman.

We also have TE's and RB's that will be able to catch the ball although no doubt we'll miss OG and LQA.

It sounds like LT is the biggest question mark on offense. Need to protect the blind side. QB1 is still up for grabs, but we have 2 capable options there. But left tackle - arguably the most important spot on the line - is waiting for someone to emerge. If Reese is dominating in practices that's not a good omen. It might mean he is a plus performer for the D, but he isn't Dwight Freeney.

Great catch. Also crazy to see Deslauriers covering that much ground that deep into the secondary. Loved the full layout PBU attempt.
In that Instagram clip there was second defender trailing the play .. can't make out the number (22? 32?), but he was well behind ... whereas Deslauriers was right there on a very difficult cover.

My crack at the 2 deep (or 3 or 4)

I don't think Angeli came here to be a backup - but he still has time to prove he's QB1.

I agree with this for the most part. I think you nailed the O-line and receivers. You alluded to it, I think Angeli will be the starter. I think running backs will be mostly Willis and Nixon as you have. But I think the third back will actually be Hart. To me James is here pretty much strictly for returning and a gadget guy on offense that we can use for pitches and sweeps every now and then. But I think our top 3 backs are Willis, Nixon and Hart. Especially now that Hart gained some real mass. Tight end wise I think we go with three guys there. I think Clement will see ALOT of action because he is a big blocker at tight end. Villari will be on the field a lot. I’m unsure about Tremble right now, now because of the talent but he’s missed a pretty good amount of time so far with injuries this camp. And I still think he needs to add another 10 pounds

Yeah I thought about Hart and moving Malachi to slot but I think Nixon is going to use Malachi in a few different roles

Finally watched Angeli's interview from the other day. Very impressed by him. Calm and collected. Suiccint answers. Knows how to play the media game. Was quite poised and gave some great answers about the QB room, the other guys, what he's focused on, etc. Didn't share a ton but I came always very impressed by his poise. Loved that he said the drive during the CFP game was the most "fun" he's ever had. Doesn't strike me as a kid who will be phased by the spotlight or big game moment. I'd be shocked if he's not starting against Tennessee. If he's not, that means very good things about Collins IMO.

Exactly. I feel very confident in either selection. Whoever wins the battle this fall-camp is going to have earned it

QB contest, I believe, will select our best player.(meaning, no favoritism)
I think Angeli is a very solid candidate. We see some tape from previous games.
I would grade him as an 8 to 8.5 on a scale of 10.
As I understand it, Collins has a live arm and good footspeed...BUT not alot of experience
to see what he can do against stout competition.
Who can manage the game? Who can keep their cool?
If Collins starts, he has matured. If Angeli starts, one would think Collins isn't quite "ready".
Either way, I believe we are in good shape at the QB position.

My hopes for Deslauriers playing this season increased after seeing him stay close to a wide receiver on that kind of route. Sure he got beaten, but it took a nice offensive play, and linebackers aren't usually supposed to be covering wide receivers 30 yards down field.

Impressive play all around.
Agree with your post Niastri. Not all LB's have a 4.6 40 though, that was why he was downfield that far. I think Antoine is going to be a special player @ Syracuse

E Ross is extremely impressive in practices. Kid is a beast
Yup everything I heard last year and this year was he’s a stud. His problem last year was the playbook and a couple nagging injuries. A year under his belt he should have the playbook down. Wouldn’t be surprised one bit if he’s a break out player this year. Coaches love him
