2025 Preseason Camp Thread

That video was disturbing on so many levels. What in god's name are we doing playing near weeds and bushes? If poison ivy, ticks, or errant branches cause any player to miss a game the staff should be fired.
As a player I'd actually find that fun to do. When we were in high school we were doing tackling drills into the bushes.

The hyperbole is out of control

But the coaches aren't as smart as us!!!! They wouldn't think to check to see if it is safe to jump into those bushes. There are probably rattle snakes in there!!!

I can see the headline now.

Orange Get Lime
Watch how Cuse's bush diving baller caught more than a TD.

Jokes aside, can't really tell where they were on the field when the ball was thrown. But if there is an obstacle right outside the field of play of the practice field of a P4 program, that would seem pretty Mickey Mouse to me.

Hes a better player than people give him credit for. Like several on our defense last year he missed a lot of “easy” tackles, but other than that he’s fairly sound, just not dynamic. The good news is only one other linebacker really has to step up. Bryant probably gets 90% of the reps and McDonald 50%, (for a few games at least). The rest of the reps are up for grabs.

I’m very interested to see who the second two are, and can Antoine beat out Sparrow and Heard. If so, by mid season he may get starters reps. I expect to the the “or” word next to Antoine at minimum on 2nd team.
He is in the right place for tackles but he was getting eatin up bye blocks or not getting off blocks and backs were running right bye him. He has to dip and rip or create contact of oline before big guys get hands on him. He works on that he can be a player.

LB's should not be missing too many tackles, especially not any easy ones. McDonald has been adequate thus far. Hopefully he has another jump in his play. I think most people just hope we are at the point to have starters that can be difference makers at every position instead of just adequate.
He seems like a nice kid, but I hope guys with higher ceilings eventually take his reps. That missed tackle in the backfield against King vs Georgia Tech still gives me nightmares

He is one of the slowest LBs I have seen at SU. He is probably better off in a 4 man unit. We play only two.
