Horrible rules.

Should be an alternate selected for injuries and also if US comes to tie this I don’t consider that a win for Europe. Should go to some sudden death.

Personally, I think the injury rule should be like NCAA wrestling. If you can't go, it's a forfeit.

And I agree there should be some sort of playoff rule. I know it would be changing long-standing tradition, but rules have been changed before.
 
Came down to the USA lead lead dogs vs the Euros

Scottie and Bryson didn’t generate enough points
 
Really the "sit a guy" rule was created when the USA was dominating for the most part,

now that every point matters change it up. Forfeit is not fun, but the team that sits the player should let the other team decide who they want in a 2 pt match.

To me the singles should not have ties. the other 2 days thats fine. But the final day guys play to win.

Imagine the drama if say Scottie had played for 2 pts and those last 3 matches really could have changed the outcome.

I mean I had 200-1 on USA and actually had a reason to watch all the way thru. Lowery missing would have made it really fun late.
 
I think the sit a guy thing is getting overblown because of our run.

Bradley taking shots at it shows he doesn't know the history and how the US benefitted in the past. In the history of the cup it's happened what 3 times?
I think he was disrespectful to Hovland. Does he really think up 7 Europe said "hey Victor fake an injury that Harris English has been nails in this event thus far".

The rule that should be changed is giving dumb captains the power to take the teeth out of a tough course and to put the same pair out back to back basically conceding two points.
 
I watched a ton of the Ryder Cup.

The vulgar whooping up the crowd jeers, apparently initiated by some PGA appointed female emcee, was mind boggling, let alone flat out disgraceful.

There's banter, and then there is flat out verbal abuse, etc. that clearly crosses the line. Interestingly, Rory is beloved by many folk here in America (by true golf fans, etc.) as anyone who ever tunes in regularly on the PGA tour events, let alone the Majors, can attest. Obviously, the Ryder Cup, which pitches a team (country) event over the individual sport that it is, along with all of the standard type etiquette, etc. that's commonplace/embedded in the sport, crosses over here. Therefore, a peculiar dynamic shift for sure. However, the vulgarity and such that was on full display at times by numerous individuals, clearly is unacceptable. It's darn right shameful. However, unfortunately, so are we culturally nowadays and for some time now.

I also watched the entire post event ceremonies on the Golf Channel. In regards to Bradley's comments on the injury and both teams getting a half point, I didn't take anything he stated as disrespectful. He actually precursed his sentiment by first stating; 'this is in no disrespect to Viktor.'

The broader interpretation, at least IMO and perspective from what Keegan said is; that this is sport, and if a circumstance should arise, especially one that in theory isn't unheard of and clearly possible, than a different scenerio should play out where nothing is given, so to speak, to anyone. Let the result be decided on the field of play. It's not as if this withdrawal, forfeit, what have you, happened while the actual specific (in the moment) competition was taking place. Even if it did, there still could've been an alternate, substitute, etc. 'waiting in the wings.'

Regardless of the long withstanding rule/agreement in place, margin, etc. at that time of occurence, I'm not sure how anyone, from a pure competition, etc. standpoint can honestly disagree with that.

The injury rule is fine and should not be changed. It does not favor either side and is perfectly aligned with this being a friendly gentleman's competition, and it does not determine the outcome of the event - the other 27 matches do that.

Agree about the emcee - mind boggling indeed.
 
I sort of like the "retain" system. Its unique to the Ryder Cup - you have to win in regulation to take the Cup back.

As for the injured player. It was 100% fair this year it was the rule, and I don't think Hovland abused the rule. That being said I think teams should have a "13th player" who is only eligible to play Sunday, And to take any accusations of foul play out of it, that 13th player can come in for anybody on the final day whether they are injured or not.

Just watched the interview with PGA CEO, Dwayne... Apparently, they had no plan in place to control hecklers, no communications to patrons about heckling, and he only made a vague commitment to better controlling this for the 2033 PGA at Black Page. He said he hadn't gotten around to apologizing to the McIlroys (but apparently won't to the rest of the team). Unfortunately, he wasn't asked about the emcee.

One of the pundits said that Keegan should have discussed/challenged this rule in the two years leading up to the Cup, not after he lost - very good point.

There was an interview with Keegan where he stated that the rule, absolutely should be changed. He was then asked 'why', and Keegan blahed on for a while but didn't give a single reason why the rule should be changed.
