2025 Schedule A Killer

Let's all be honest with ourselves, this is what is going to keep us worried now that McCord is gone (and even if he was still here.) McCord gave us some hope, but this schedule is still very, very rough. (I know, they might not be as good, look at FSU this year, etc.):

"neutral" Tennessee
at Notre Dame
at Clemson
at Miami
at SMU

at Georgia Tech
Duke
Pittsburgh
North Carolina

Boston College
UConn
Colgate

That home schedule is pathetic. They should reduce season ticket prices for that mess. Lol

This could be a really bad season

The 2014 and 2016 games were part of a 3 game contract Dr Gross signed with MetLife. I believe one of those games were actually supposed to be a home game for Syracuse from a contract signed circa 2000. No idea how the ACC treated those games when considering the SU-ND rotation.

The 2018 game at YS was actually a ND home game that ND opted to move to NYC as part of their Shamrock Series (I think that is what they called it).

And then, as you point out, the 2020 game wasn't scheduled until late and was done to accommodate ND, who joined the ACC for football that year so they could field a full schedule. I would hope that earned Syracuse a chit for a return game at some point. But who knows for sure?

But even if you consider both games at Met Life to be Syracuse home games, which is extremely questionable (I don't think the neutral games should count at all), it was 3 home games for each team.

And then with the second agreement, you would think there would surely be 2 home games for each team. To me, it should be 3 home games for Syracuse and 1 home for ND.

If it ends up 2 home games for each with the agreement extension, I would hope at the least that Syracuse gets one of the games scheduled to be played at ND transferred to one of the newbie ACC teams. Would not be surprised if it ends up being the 2026 game that apparently is a bone of contention right now. I hope that SUAD fights hard to keep the 2026 game at the dome, where it belongs. Fair is fair.

I doubt it happens. ND refuses to be a full member but sometimes gets treated better than full members. That is how things roll in this conference.
ND = $$$$$$$$$

Rational fans have to have there expectations around 6-7 wins with obvious growth from the young ones. We pull one or two major upsets and i am fully satisfied with that season. I’m high on the lsu transfer after reading there fan board. They loved the kid. That is so rare from such a psychotic fan base.

It would have been nice if at least one of our big time opponents were coming to the Dome.

Agreed on Rickie - LSU fans seemed legit bummed he left.

Yeah, we seem to have 2.5 (Carney is the .5, since he’s coming straight from HS) legit P4 bodied QB’s,
all with excellent potential.

And while I fully understand potential isn’t reality, yet -
Feel like Nixon can scheme to the strengths of whomever wins QB1.

And while we’re losing some horses on O, like OG, LQA, and Meeks,
We do return a lot of talent,
Peña, Gill, JRS, Willis, etc.
and a ton of high-upside young dudes.

We’re gonna have weapons.

Our QB1 will not be as good as McCord, but our QB2 looks to be way better than in 2024 or 2023. So if QB1 does miss any time, it shouldn't be such a dramatic, write off the season type event.

Not sure a rational fan--whatever that is--set the over/under at 6.5. If being rational, I think 5.5 is the optimistic over/under. To get to 6, absent an upset, we have to sweep Colgate, UConn, Duke (with new $$$), UNC (with mega new $$$$$), BC (beat us in 2024 with McCord), Pitt (beat us badly in 2024 with McCord)... just to get to a bowl. While we certainly CAN get an upset, we certainly can BE UPSET also. See Stanford 2024. So that just offsets.

The sad thing is that if we go 13-0, we will make the playoffs out of the ACC. If we go 12-1, we will probably make the playoffs out of the ACC. Either we win the ACC CG at 11-1 or be a 12-0 team losing the championship game.

SMU did at 11-2... barely. Miami went 10-2 and did not. Of course, SMU may have ruined that for the ACC for the foreseeable future. At the very least, 10-2 Syracuse is very very unlikely to make the playoffs unless we win the ACC CG. Avoiding losses is more important than getting wins, if that makes sense. 9-3 Alabama did not make the playoffs. 9-3 ACC teams that do not win the CCG are NOT making the playoffs.

None of the above really comes down to who we beat. Alabama beat Georgia. So what? They lost 3 games. Not sure the logic for scheduling tough while in the ACC. If the ACC disbands or the playoff rules change, then maybe schedule will be important. Today, it is not.

So... I think we should have worked really hard to try to diplomatically get that ND trip sent over to Stanford. They have 11 games. They are at Hawaii... so I think they could even get 13 games if they wanted. But they at least have room for ND. We need another winnable home game.

Not to mention anything we already don’t know but here are early odds for next years CFBP champion by Betonline. Wow. Not to mention SMU who should be ranked and Pitt who we can’t seem to beat no matter how bad they are.
