Can someone tell me again why the ncaa did away with the 25-player limit on incoming recruiting classes? I mean with the portal, why would any team need 33 freshmen? Or 40 freshmen? Unless they’re just trying to make sure Georgia and Ohio State have their shelves stocked.

Because 35-40 kids could portal out from your team, and you have to be able to replace them.

The original limit was 25 combined freshmen & transfers.
