Contest. Who can identify who broke their femur first
Standing near the dbsDon’t know much about femur injuries, but there is someone on a crutch during these DB drills
Officially we are still at 85 scholarships pending approval of House v. NCAA settlement this week. Assuming it is approved we go to a roster limit of 105 including any walkons. Are we at 85 or 105 for the roster limit? We have been generally assuming that it is going to be 105. With the large recruiting class and transfers I am curious as to how the roster shakes out and who gets a spot. Do you have something to enlighten us? Lots of qb's on the current roster. Also Filardi is thought to be a lacrosse recruit.
Says it at the 8:10 mark. Pretty sure he said femur
Apropos of almost nothing, I think of this every time I hear the word femur. Good thing I’m not in orthopedics…Another vote for femur here. That’s what it sounded like and it fits the context of the conversation a lot better.
I was driving and the thruway was bumpy so I definitely could be wrong and most likely am. Wasn’t expecting femurAnother vote for femur here. That’s what it sounded like and it fits the context of the conversation a lot better.

Filardi is planning on playing football also. Why do you think he should not be listed on the football roster? Are we at 85 or 105 for the roster limit? YesWe are going to be sooooo good. I know we have a really hard schedule, but we are going to freaking kill it.
half of them aren’t on scholarship?8 QB's on roster, have to imagine some will portal or try a different position after spring

If approval isn’t given or is delayed the NCAA almost has to waive the 85 limit as most P4 schools are well above that threshold with incoming class.

Good analysis. Isn’t there an outstanding appeal by the current walks on for an exemption too?I understand the decision regarding the House Settlement is set for this week, maybe even as soon as tomorrow.

Landmark House Settlement Set for Final Approval: Here’s What to Know
On Sunday evening in Tampa, the NCAA will crown a new national champion in women’s basketball. The next night in San Antonio, it will be the men’s turn to hoistwww.si.com
Managing the football roster at Syracuse reminds me of the elephant in the room. People are aware of this, but almost no one is talking about the potential impact on the roster.
We opened spring camp with between 100 and 105 players in the program. Then after two separate on-campus tryout sessions for "walk-ons" (March 17th and March 26th) we appear to have added 3 or four more players to the mix (new numbers not on the spring roster pulled from pictures and videos on social media) probably putting out numbers slightly over 105. And we still have 22 more players, incoming freshman, set to report over the summer. That put our projected number to be more than 125. If the House settlement passes and the rosters are capped at 105, Syracuse will be forced to part ways with more than 20 players.
As part of this purge, do any of the more than 20 former walk-ons get cut or do some make the cut and stick around? Some have been productive.
- Max Runyon, FB/TE; the only fullback on the roster, played in 12 games in 2024.
- Josh Kabula, LB; played in 12 games in 2024, 13 games in 2023, primarily on special teams.
- Ethan Stangle, LS; played in 1 game (10 snaps) in 2024. Is the only long-snapper on the roster.
- Jackson Kennedy*, K/P; played in 6 games in 2024.
- Jayden Oh*, K; played in 2 games in 2024.
- Tommy Porter, S; played in 1 game in 2024 and 4 games in 2023.
* We need a back-up kicker on the roster. Tripp Woody, K/P, transferred in from Iowa. I suspect only one player between Woody, Kennedy and Oh will make the cut.
In addition to making room for the freshman who are slated to arrive over the summer, we would have to make additional room IF we decided to add anyone from the portal, which opens in ten days (April 16 - April 25).
If, as was stated in a previous post, most P4 schools are over the 105 roster cap, will anyone request a waiver to carry more than 105 players with a cap of 105 scholarship players? If not, there could be an additional 1000 players pushed to the portal or kicked to the curb.
Do we need**...
- 7 QB's, including 2 walk-ons and 5 RS frosh or true frosh? Pat Grusser was moved to safety/Star before the bowl in December.
- 23 offensive linemen, including 4 walk-ons and 10 RS frosh or true frosh?
- 8 running backs, including 2 walk-ons and 3 RS frosh or true frosh?
- 7 TE's (and FB's), including 1 walk-ons and 3 RS frosh or true frosh?
- 15 receivers, including 2 walk-ons and 8 RS frosh or true frosh?
- 22 defensive linemen, including 2 walk-ons and 9 RS frosh or true frosh?
- 15 linebackers, including 3 walk-ons and 7 RS frosh or true frosh?
- 21*** DB's, including 4 walk-ons (2 recent) and 11 RS frosh or true frosh?
- 5 specialists, including 3 walk-ons and 1 RS frosh?
When will "the talks" begin? Likely following the spring game so players can get into the portal ASAP and have a chance of landing somewhere.
** These numbers are likely off by one or two and LB's or edge rushers could be listed as either a LB or DL.
*** T'ron Haile who began in the secondary when he arrived last year then moved to WR for the 2024 was moved to Safety this spring. He's a good athlete looking for a home.
Sometimes, DART and CCT (Commitment, Care and Trust) will not be enough.
Go Orange!
Sorry didn't mean for it to sound that way. I thought you may have some info that I was not privy to. There had been some questions on what walk-on qb's would be on the roster and I was surprised to see Miller, Filardi and Grusser listed on the current roster. Again sorry if I sounded like a jerk.Idk why you’re getting pissy with me? All I did was ask a question because I didn’t know What you were talking about.
I am delighted that he is listed on the roster. I had gotten the idea that he was a lacrosse first student athlete. May have been obvious to you that he would be on the football roster, me not so much.Filardi is planning on playing football also. Why do you think he should not be listed on the football roster?
Thanks for an awesome post!I understand the decision regarding the House Settlement is set for this week, maybe even as soon as tomorrow.

Even if he was or is a lacrosse first athlete, that shouldn’t have precluded him from being on both rosters, especially since that was part of his recruiting, at least I would think. It’s just a preseason roster listing.I am delighted that he is listed on the roster. I had gotten the idea that he was a lacrosse first student athlete. Appreciate your input here. My original statement was that it was interesting that the walk- on qb's were listed on the current roster. SUDadx2 posted a few posts up that really clarifies the timeline of the new roster numbers and possible changes. He stated that with players on scholarship and with current walk-on's we are over 125 roster spots. You made a good point that this is a preseason roster listing so I guess I can relax for a minute lol.Even if he was or is a lacrosse first athlete, that shouldn’t have precluded him from being on both rosters, especially since that was part of his recruiting, at least I would think. These days you never know LOLI distinctly heard "endometriosis." But there's no way...
