I wanted to see how, "spots" the team might have available, given the NCAA is trying to impose a 48 player roster limit. Obviously this is hard to predict, as you aren't sure how many transfers (both in and out) there will be, plus players could choose to take a redshirt, or forgo it. My best attempt is that the 2026 roster will look like this (including the three commits the Orange have landed this period).
Attack: 7 (Deere, Kraftson, O'Farrell, Bucktooth, Meyer, Peck, Rodriguez)
Midfield: 12 (Kellogg, Hottle, McCarthy, Hunter, Anderson, McIntee, White, Schell, Hahn, Rawson, Pike, Rayfield)
Face-off: 3 (Mullen, Angelo, Gibbs)
LSM: 3 (Bolognino, Filardi, D'Agostino)
SSDM: 3 (J. Spallina, Ochoa, Kittelberger)
Defense: 6 (Figuerias, Kuczynski, B. Spallina, Scott, Stephens, Ryan)
Goalie: 4 (McCool, Ippoliti, Ferguson, Bartlow)
Total: 38
So it looks like the Orange have about 10 more slots they could offer. I made a fair amount of assumptions here, so these numbers could change, obviously. The midfield breakdown is hard to predict, as I'm guessing one or two incoming freshmen will be moved to SSDM, and I listed Anderson as a middie even though he could very well be an attackman.
It's hard to compare to this year's roster since there were 61 guys listed, but to me, defense and face-off stand out right now. Again, hard to compare to last year, but SU had 20 longsticks for the '24 season. They are on track to have just nine for '26. They only brought in two in the '25 class (Filardi and D'Agostino), which makes getting young guys in the door that much more important.
As Jeremy has pointed out, the face-off position really needs a boost. I counted Gavin Gibbs as one of the seven, and there is no guarantee he'll be back since I am assuming he would use a redshirt. FWIW I also assumed Riley Figuerias, Jimmy McCool, Chuck Kuczyski would use a red-shirt year.
Outside of goalie, I don't think there is a position Syracuse would say no to, especially if the right player came along, so there is some flexibility. But yeah, hopefully the rumored defensive targets set their sights on the hill.
