2026 Recruiting

2026 Standouts

Hunter Mezzatesta, G, Yorktown (N.Y.), Express North
Eval Score: 90

So highly regarded by his peers, coaches and evaluators alike, my eyes were glued to Mezzatesta not just because of the hype coming into Future Phenoms, but also due to all the point-blank stuffs he was making. A big vocal leader, he gets low quick and uses his feet well but when he gets his stick to it his rebound control is great.

Joe Florada, D, Salisbury School (Conn.), Sweetlax Upstate (originally from Syracuse - CBA)
Eval Score: 88

Florada’s tall frame makes him jump off the page, metaphorically speaking, but he backed it up with well-timed checks and relentless pressure. He had a nice poke check behind the net to dislodge the ball early on in the day, then again by just being a pest and pressing out on hands early in the offensive set. His off-ball knockdowns showed the true advantage of his range, being able to guard so much space at once is so valuable.

Christopher Doshna, M, Marcellus (N.Y.), Sweetlax Upstate
Eval Score: 87

Your favorite coach's favorite player at the event, Doshna uses his big frame so well to shoot around or through his matchups. When he’s not overpowering the opposition, he’s getting in good spots to shoot with both hands, though there were a few instances where he maybe forced the issue. His lefty apple across his body through traffic also showed he’s got more than just a 1-on-1 dodge to his game.

Cooper Moore, A, Irondequoit (N.Y.) Sweetlax Upstate
Eval Score: 85

A strong righty who never lets the defense get set for when he’s about to attack in early offense, Moore was both assertive and under control. When he rotated on the crease, he had a nice handle and composed finish, but it was his athleticism in transition that stood out.

2027 Standout

James Holbrough, A, Berkshire School (Mass.), Sweetlax Upstate (from Rochester)
Eval Score: 91

A walking highlight-reel, Holbrough caught my eye immediately with his backhanded goals, but it was a slick behind-the-back dime coming from behind the net that was my favorite play from anyone across the two days. But he also made simple, well-timed feeds to guys like his lefty linemate Ty Calabro within the flow of the offense and again with a quickstick in transition. He’s great off the ground and can handle pressure, scooping one ball in tight and using a toedrag to free himself up for a nice dip and dunk. Off-ball, when middies dodged toward him he drifted well to get a step on his man for a high finish getting topside.

Syracuse will be in on at least two of the 26s mentioned and I wouldn't be shocked if they landed both.

It would be nice to get another St.John's player at UMd:

surprised not mentioned yet. peck from lawrenceville has his "teams considering" up on inside lacrosse and he has cuse listed
I was looking at him earlier today. List: Syracuse, Virginia, PSU, Maryland, Notre Dame

I noted a few pages back that there does appear to be mutual interest between Peck and SU from some of the rumblings out there. Doesn't mean he's SU bound by any stretch but I think Cuse will definitely be one of the teams considered at the end.

I believe peck is going to take some visits. With the new scholly rules, maybe these kids slow their process down some since it’s less feast or famine?

orange have to pounce on this one. from upstate and the rare lville kid who does not have ivy league or ivy league adjacent (aka hopkins) aspirations. lville is basically a pre-ivy prep program so when one comes along who wants to play in the acc they have to take advantage like they did with rawson recently. UNC has done well with a few of their canadians but in general they are an ivy + hop program. occasionally michigan...

peck is legit but will need to hit the college weight room hard

While Posner does not have final say, I’ve heard he’s pushing the kids to ACC and B1G programs due to financial considerations (schollies, NIL, facilities, etc)

Nice to see! Also good to see Chris Doshna from Marcellus lists Syracuse as well. I can't see the other teams he has listed for some reason. Perhaps someone else can? Also curious if Nick Rayfield from Macellus has listed any schools himself.

I suspect they will make a major play for Peck. I don't want to say I'd be surprised if they didn't land him because clearly the competition will be fierce but I believe they are making him one of their top priorities (as you noted they should). He and Jayden James are likely SU's top two big name targets (that I have heard anyway). I've also heard rumblings SU feels they are in better position with more top end guys then last year when they lost out on a few of the bigger names ie Raio, Drago and others. The two Marcellus guys are interesting, haven't heard a ton them from an SU standpoint but suspect SU will at minimum will offer both just don't know what the mutual interest is.

Believe it has been mentioned before, but Marcellus has a facility devoted to mainly box lacrosse with guys like Dylan Donohue helping out. Good for several reasons. It both improves the skills of local talent from an early age, and gives them skills that are commonly used in Syracuse's offense. Having alums on staff helps with the pipeline.

Jayden James and some other names to watch make the U-16 Team, including,

Oliver Kowal, Defense (Victor, NY / SweetLax Upstate)
Matthew Langan, LSM (Victor, NY / SweetLax Upstate)
Nash Oudemool, Midfield (West Genesee, NY / SweetLax Upstate)
